Brooklyn Beckham’s first wedding dance with his wife, Nicola Peltz, quickly turned chaotic when an alleged unexpected moment involving his mother, Victoria Beckham, left the bride in tears.
Sources revealed that during the reception, while guests were enjoying themselves, Victoria’s actions on the dance floor sparked tension and discomfort, ultimately overshadowing the couple’s big moment, per Page Six.
The Dance That Was Supposed to Be Just for the Newlyweds
On Monday, Brooklyn Beckham, 26, shared his side of the story on Instagram, revealing that his mother "hijacked" his first dance with Nicola, adding that Victoria, 51, "danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone."
While many initially thought this was their first dance, it turns out that this moment took place after Brooklyn and Nicola had already danced, and after guests, including family members, had joined in.
Singer Marc Anthony was scheduled to perform at the event, and Brooklyn and Nicola were meant to have a romantic moment on a specially built stage.
"It was meant to be the big romantic first dance," one source close to the wedding revealed. "It was pre-determined specifically for Nicola and Brooklyn."
But things took an unexpected turn when Marc Anthony, a longtime friend of the Beckham family, invited Brooklyn up to the stage.
However, instead of dancing with his new bride, Brooklyn was asked to join Victoria, who was described as "the most beautiful woman in the room."
Victoria's Inappropriate Dance and Nicola's Heartbreak
The source went on to describe how Victoria immediately wrapped her arms around Brooklyn and “nuzzled into his neck,” which was seen as an inappropriate gesture that took away from Nicola’s special moment.
According to the guest, Victoria “took that moment from Nicola, that is the God’s truth."
The situation quickly escalated, with Nicola reportedly running off in tears. “Nicola ran out crying," the source said.
"The Beckhams’ side of the room was cheering, and the Peltz side was quiet." Friends of Nicola attempted to comfort her, urging her to return to the reception, but her face was swollen, and she remained visibly upset for the rest of the evening.
“It was so heartbreaking,” the guest added.
Brooklyn also expressed his distress on Instagram, stating: “I have never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life.”
The Peltz Family’s Involvement and the Drama Behind the Scenes
Brooklyn and Nicola tied the knot in a lavish ceremony at the Palm Beach estate of Nicola’s parents, billionaire heiress Nelson and Claudia Peltz, in April 2022.
The event featured an extravagant performance by Marc Anthony, who sang his hit song “You Sang To Me.”
The Peltz family had also built a stage for Anthony's performance and paid for his band. However, some insiders believe that no "hijacking" occurred, noting that Brooklyn and Nicola had already shared a dance before this moment.
“It was a family dance, basically,” one insider explained.
They denied claims of anything inappropriate taking place and clarified that David Beckham had joined Victoria and Brooklyn on stage, followed by their daughter, Harper. According to this source, Nicola had already danced with her father, and there was no malice behind Victoria’s behavior.
The Dress Drama: Victoria’s Last-Minute Cancellation
In addition to the controversial dance moment, Brooklyn also shared that his mother, Victoria, had canceled making Nicola’s wedding dress at the last minute.
This forced Nicola to urgently find a new gown, which she did by traveling to Rome with her mother and stylist Leslie Fremar to have a dress designed by Pierpaolo Piccioli, Valentino’s former head designer.
However, Fremar later contradicted Brooklyn’s version of events, telling Vogue that Nicola’s gown had been in the works for a year, with two fittings taking place in the U.S.
After hearing this, Victoria allegedly quipped, “Should I wear Valentino, too?” before deciding on a design from her own fashion line.
Despite the tension surrounding the wedding day, Nicola denied any talk of a “feud” between herself and Victoria.
In an interview with the Sunday Times in October 2022, she responded to speculation by saying: "It’s not a feud! I keep seeing everywhere that word, ‘feud, feud, feud.’ I don’t know why they say feud. I mean, maybe they picked up on something? And now they’re labeling it feud? No family is perfect!”
