A new video has been shared online of a moment that occurred after Will Smith slapped Chris Rock at the 94th Academy Awards on Sunday night.

When Smith, 53, slapped Rock, 57, at the Oscars over the weekend, the same footage of the shocking altercation - taken from the live broadcast of the show - began circulating all over the web.

Now, a new angle of the moment has been shared on social media.

Check out the new angle here:

It appears that the video was first posted to TikTok and has since made its way to other social media platforms. It shows Smith walking back to his seat after having stormed onto the stage to slap Rock, who was presenting the award for Best Documentary Feature at the time.

Around the moment that Rock remarks: "Oh wow, Will Smith just smacked the s*** out of me," Smith's wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, can be seen throwing her head forward and then back again as though she is laughing.

The video was taken from a couple of rows behind the 50-year-old actress, so it is not known for certain whether Pinkett Smith had actually been laughing - though this is what the text overlay on the TikTok video states.

What certainly didn't make Pinkett Smith laugh was the joke that prompted Smith's decision to take to the stage and strike the Everybody Hates Chris creator.

When Rock joked: "Jada, I love you. G.I. Jane 2, can't wait to see it," the actress could be seen rolling her eyes, while her husband, Smith, appeared to initially laugh at the gag.

The situation then took an unexpected turn when the Independence Day star suddenly launched onto the stage and slapped the funnyman, who responded in shock, saying: "Will Smith just smacked the s*** out of me."

Smith then told Rock to "leave my wife's name out of your f***ing mouth," with the comedian defending the gag as merely a "G.I. Jane joke." This retort prompts Smith to scream even louder: "Leave my wife's name out of your f***ing mouth."

Despite sparking controversy around the world for resorting to violence, Smith was later awarded the gong for Best Actor for his role in King Richard.

Rock decided not to press charges against the actor, who later apologized to Rock in a post to Instagram.

He said: "I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness.
