Last night, ABC aired the "virtual" One World: Together At Home benefit concert. More than 100 artists performed from their living rooms in an attempt to raise funds for the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund for the World Health Organization.
Throughout the eight-hour show, viewers were treated to unique performances from some of the biggest stars in the music industry, including Lady Gaga, Paul McCartney, Billie Eilish, and even The Rolling Stones managed to perform together from their four separate homes.
However, it was Taylor Swift's emotional performance that left viewers in tears, as she performed the track 'Soon You'll Get Better' from her album Lover.
Check out Swift's stunning performance in the video below:Speaking as a Swift fan, I'd consider this to be her most personal and saddest songs, as it details Taylor's thoughts regarding her mom's battle with cancer.
Speaking at a SiriusXM Town Hall, Swift admitted that the candid track was "hard to write" and that she may never perform it live. She told those in attendance:
"That's a song I don't know if I'll ever play it live. It's just really difficult for me. It was hard to write. It's hard to sing. It's hard to listen to for me. But sometimes, music is like that. Sometimes it's not just about stuff that was pleasant to feel."
The track, which features the Dixie Chicks, features heartbreaking lyrics such as: "The buttons of my coat were tangled in my hair. In doctor’s office lighting, I didn’t tell you I was scared... That was the first time we were there. Holy orange bottles, each night, I pray to you. Desperate people find faith, so now I pray to Jesus too."
And later: "And I hate to make this all about me, but who am I supposed to talk to? What am I supposed to do, if there’s no you?"
It is a terribly upsetting and vulnerable song, but one that Swift knew reflected the ongoing battle around the world. The somber lyrics were matched by Taylor's somber performance, as she looked like she could cry at any moment.
Well, taking to Twitter, many fans weren't shy about revealing that they did shed tears watching Swift's emotional performance:
