Adele may have been a bit hasty in going off on a fan at her Las Vegas show for perceived homophobic remarks. At least, that’s what people are saying after seeing this new footage.

On Saturday, June 1, as Pride month kicked off, Adele, known for her candid interactions with fans, was left fuming when an interruption occurred during her show at Las Vegas’s Colosseum in Caesars Palace.

After hearing a man apparently criticize the movement dedicated to celebrating the LGBTQ+ community, Adele called him out in a video that has since gone viral.

The ‘Set Fire to the Rain’ singer snapped back: “Did you come to my fing show and just say that Pride sucks? Are you f****** stupid? Don’t be so f****** ridiculous. If you have nothing nice to say, shut up, all right?”

The singer has received praise online for her reaction.

One fan wrote on Twitter: “I love Adele for this!” Another added: “Adele always speaks her mind, that’s why I love her, she doesn’t give af,” and someone else said: “To have ADELE of all people go off on you means you REALLY said something wrong.”

However, new footage from the concert suggests the attendee might have said something far less offensive. Adele was chatting with the crowd about her unconventional work week when someone seemed to shout: "Work sucks."

While it's tough to decipher exactly what the person yelled due to background noise, "work sucks" aligns more with the topic of Adele's initial speech.

Fans are still debating the situation on Twitter, with one writing: "i was gonna say it didn’t sound like pride at first," and another questioning, "Why would they say work sucks lol."

There's still confusion about what was actually said, and some think "work sucks" makes more sense.

While many defended Adele for being an ally, one fan pointed out she might have humbled this concertgoer for doing nothing wrong, leading to some criticism of her for possibly jumping the gun. Regardless, it's clear where she stands on Pride.

Adele has been a steadfast advocate for Pride over the years, calling the LGBTQ+ community her “soul mates since I was really young.”

Following an attack on the LGBTQ+ community in 2016, Adele dedicated her “entire show to everybody in Orlando and at Pulse nightclub last night.”

She also went viral previously after pausing a concert to stand up for a fan seemingly hassled by security.

During a performance of her 2015 song ‘Water Under the Bridge’ in August 2023, Adele spotted a situation from the stage and intervened, asking, “Why are you bothering him? Can you leave him alone, please? They won’t bother you anymore, darling. You enjoy the show. Leave him alone.”
