There are few things more daunting than stepping out of your comfort zone and trying something new. However, there’s also nothing more rewarding.
And that’s why musician and YouTube sensation Yung Filly has teamed up with Peperami to help encourage more people to dare to be daring, try something new, and live life to the fullest. In other words, they want people to “go a bit Peperami”.
In his mission to prove that anything is possible when you set your mind to it, Yung Filly recently invited his friend, Alice Kübe, to take part in a rap battle. The only problem? Alice is a singer and hasn’t rapped in her life.
Therefore, Yung Filly had to be a little creative and enter Alice into a rap battle without telling her - all in the hopes that the talented singer would “go a bit Peperami” and embrace the challenge.
After inviting an unknowing Alice to a recording studio in central London, Yung Filly sprung his surprise.

“I know you normally sing, but today I’m going to get you to do the opposite,” Filly told her. “You will be becoming a battle rapper.”
A stunned Alice quickly replied: “A battle rapper? Me?”
Admitting that she doesn’t “have any bars”, Yung Filly brought in music producer and artist Eugene to help coach Alice in the art of rapping.

Explaining his reason behind the challenge, Yung Filly says it’s all about putting Alice “through her paces and out of her comfort zone.” He wants his friends to be “trying something new, being bold, and enjoying life to their absolute fullest.”
After hearing Alice’s - shall we say - disappointing first attempts at putting a rap together, Eugene explains to her that rap is all about “lyrics, flow, cadence, and tone”.
“You’ve got to feel it,” he tells her. “If I don’t believe you, it’s not going to work.”

After all the coaching was complete, it was time for a final pep talk from Yung Filly.
“I am so nervous, I can’t believe you’ve got me doing this,” Alice tells Filly.
“Main rule in hip-hop though; don’t choke,” he tells her.
To which, she reminds the YouTube star: “Filly, I’m a singer. I’m not a rapper.”
Echoing Eugene’s advice, Yung Filly tells his friend: “You’ve got to have real fire - and that’s only going to come when you feel it. Like, be an animal!”

After the final rally cry, it was time for Alice to look the part so that she could feel the part - so Yung Filly provided her with a Peperaimi-green tracksuit to help unleash the singer’s inner animal.
Then it was showtime.
At the venue, Alice found out that she would be going head-to-head with London-based rapper Eve.
The rap battle was hosted by Yung Filly himself, who informed the participants: “Ladies, you know how this goes. Two rounds each. Bars.”
Finally, it was time for Alice to go a bit Peperami. DJ, run the track…
Eve kicked off the first round with a savage rap that not only reminded Alice that she was a singer in a rapper’s world, but also took aim at her lovely new tracksuit:
“You’re a singer, you should do ballads. Against me? You’re not gonna manage.
“And I don’t know what you were thinking when you came here dressed like a salad.
“There’s no chance you’re gonna win, you can’t rap, you can’t sing.
“Look at you with your bling bling, it don’t shine, it just looks dim.”
Mic in hand and undeterred, Alice fired back with some bars of her own - and gave Eve a “roasting” in the process:
“I’m hot, I’m smoking - in a battle, I ain’t choking.
“Treat you like a Sunday dinner, and I’ll give you a roasting.
“You say I’m just a singer? Make you look like a beginner.
“Got more talent in my little finger, that’s right - I am the winner.”

In another attempt to put Alice in her place, Eve retorted by once again trashing the singer’s rapping skills:
“You think you’re a star ‘cause you play guitar?
“When I hear your bars, I’m like, ‘Har-har-har!’
“Your raps are boring, when you sing, I start snoring.
“I can tell you ain’t been to college, when it comes to rap, you ain’t got the knowledge.”

But it wasn’t enough to scare off Alice, who clearly had been inspired by the spicy taste of Peperami:
“How are you gonna be the winner? I’m better than you and I’m a singer!
“You don’t get no applause, when I rap, it’s better than yours.
“In my bag, I’m spicy, you’re too bland, I’m fiery.
“Pepped up, I’ll ‘Go Peperami’,
“I get a (re) re-wind in de party!”
Mic drop and the crowd goes wild!
As well as beating Eve at her own game, Alice had bravely stepped out of her comfort zone and tried something new. And, from looking at the smile on her face, it was all worth it!
In a final heart-to-heart, Yung Filly gushed about how proud he was of his friend and even gave her a solid gold Peperami chain to “guarantee Alice’s spot in the rap game”.

Alice’s incredible effort here is a perfect reminder of why it can be so rewarding to branch out and give something a try. In other words, I think it’s time we all went a bit Peperami!
