Chelsea Handler has given viewers a glimpse of her life as a nonparent but not everyone is happy with it.
The 47-year-old comedian - who has temporarily taken over as The Daily Show host after Trevor Noah’s exit - shared a video titled 'A Day in the Life of a Childless Woman', and it has caused quite a commotion.
The clip was meant to satirize the typical day-in-the-life TikToks, which is basically when users make a curated version of their lives as moms or stay-at-home girlfriends.
"This is a day in the life of a childless woman," Handler began the video. "I wake up at 6 AM. I remember that I have no kids to take to school, so I take an edible, masturbate, and go back to sleep."
Check out Handler's video below:“I wake up at 12:30 PM and get ready for a busy day of doing whatever the f*** I feel like," she said, before putting on "my most impractical and stylish shoes since I won’t be chasing a child around the grocery store".
She then hilariously noted that life as a childfree woman includes a day trip to Paris for a croissant, a workout on Mount Everest for a quick climb, a night out with "whatever hot guy" she met on Raya, and of course traveling back in time to "kill Hitler".
"I do a meditation sesh on the plane since I have no screaming kids, allowing me all the time in the world to become enlightened. The weightlessness of my existence has granted me superhuman powers," she joked.
"It’s amazing what you can do when you have this much free time and that’s a day in the life of a childless woman!", Handler concluded.
The sketch received 10.5 million views since it was posted to Twitter on February 10. It has also amassed 122.4K likes and 16K retweets on the social media platform.
The comments section on the video was divided as while some people enjoyed the comedian's version of the usual "day in the life" videos, others were outraged.
One user that agreed with Handler's video wrote: "If you’re a parent and this angered you, you have problems because this has nothing to do with people with children and secondly it’s a comedy skit, F**! Why do people with children center themselves in everyone’s lives?"
Another chimed in and commented: "Baffling (but not surprising) that parents are responding to this with 'I WOULDN'T GIVE MY CHILD UP' when she never said that? Are we not allowed to be childless and REVEL in the peace and freedom it brings without this somehow being an attack on parents?"
A person third added: "The comments on this joke tweet are insufferable and show how much contempt certain people have for life choices that aren't their own. Kids are right for some folks. Wrong for others. Differences are okay. Breathe through it. You'll survive someone not living the same life."
Handler's video didn't also go over well with some conservatives, who angrily slammed her for living a "sad" life without children.
"This is extremely sad," tweeted anti-abortion activist Lila Rose, while Fox News writer Justin T Haskins said: "Yes, you’re really living your best life, aren’t you.
"Just to be clear, because it apparently needs to be said by parents, I wouldn’t trade 10,000 of your supposedly carefree childless days in Paris and sleeping in until noon for one smile from my baby girl," he added.
The comedian's viral video even caught the attention of Fox News host Tucker Carlson, who dedicated an entire segment during a broadcast of Tucker Carlson Tonight to the comedy skit. He was accompanied by the host of The Jesse Kelly Show.
The pair went on a misogynistic rant with Jesse stating: "feminists like Chelsea Handler" have "been lied to by their society forever, that you can be a girl boss and you can do anything a man can do - which, everyone who’s ever seen a woman back up a vehicle knows that’s not true".
Handler saw the uproar regarding her video amongst conservatives and issued a response. In the video, she cooly was sitting on a chair and puffing a vape.
She then said: "Hey everyone. I woke up this morning... well more like this afternoon and noticed that there was an emergency meeting of the receding hairline society," and shared three pictures of men who were angry with her video.
"Why would I even need my own children when I get to hear these crybabies all the time?" she questioned. " You guys seem so triggered by me. I mean my goodness Tucker, I think it is time for you to ask yourself a serious question.
"Are you really upset about how much freedom I have, or are you upset that you haven't been able to take it away from me?", she added.
Consider the mic dropped.
