Christina Ricci has joined a long list of celebrities getting candid about parenthood, revealing recently that she still shares a bed with her eight-year-old son, who is not yet sleep trained.

Speaking to People, the 42-year-old actress stated that her eight-year-old son, Freddie, still sleeps with her, after becoming distressed while sleep training as a baby. "He screamed himself hoarse and started banging his head against the crib railing," she told the magazine.

Her nine-month-old daughter, Cleopatra, however, has had no such issues. "The fact that I can put her down in her crib and she just goes to sleep when my 8-year-old still sleeps with me is amazing," The Addams Family actress said.

"When we decided to try it and see how she would react to it, she just sort of whined for about seven minutes and then laid down, clutched her little unicorn and went to sleep," Ricci revealed of her daughter's sleep training.

"It was like she was ready and she wanted to do it, and it was right for her," the mom-of-two added.

Ricci shares Freddie with ex-husband, James Heerdegen, and Cleopatra with current husband, Mark Hampton. Ricci divorced her first husband, Heerdegen, in 2020 - filing a domestic violence restraining order against him that prevents him from visiting their son, per Metro UK.

Her comments, however, have sparked debate online. The Emmy nominee received some negative comments, including a remark from one person, who stated: "She needs to sleep in her own bed! It's not him, it's probably her."

Though, the majority of commenters supported Ricci's choices, with one person writing: "Love them while they are little, then when your child feels safe and gets that love and security it will make them a wonderful adult [sic]."

"My almost 7 year old still sleeps with me. We talk about him sleeping in his own bed but he's just not ready yet. I'm not going to force him to be scared. He takes up the whole bed and kicks me when I sleep but I love him so much, whatever makes him comfortable and happy," another person added.

"What is wrong with this? People are getting sick in the head to think that this isn't normal while it's actually normal," a third user chimed in. "When I was pregnant I still [slept] with my younger siblings, sometimes with gran or mum. As long as it's comfortable and feels safe, that's okay. That's completely normal too. Stop being malicious minded people!"

Other celebrities getting honest about their kids' sleeping arrangements include Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard, as well as Alicia Silverstone, who shared in July that she still sleeps with her 11-year-old son.

Talking on The Ellen Fisher Podcast about her parenting choices, Silverstone stated: "I don't really care."
