Dame Judi Dench has made history by coming the oldest ever British Vogue cover star.

The 85-year-old is set to appear on the June edition of the renowned magazine which has been in circulation for over 100 years, and inside, the actress opened up about her 60 plus year career and whether or not she has any plans to retire.

When the subject of retirement was brought up, Dame Judi told the publication, "No, no, no, no. Don't use that word, Giles. Not in this house. Not in here. Wash your mouth out."

Now, we're no experts, but we are going to take that as a hard no from the 85-year-old.

On the subject of being the oldest, the world's oldest married couple celebrated their 80th anniversary in December:

The coronavirus outbreak was also discussed as part of the interview, and like so many of us, Dame Judi is currently self-isolating at home.

She said: "I am sure I feel like everyone else, such unprecedented times are quite hard to comprehend.

"What is a good thing is that it has made people aware of the predicament of others who are completely alone. If a great deal of kindness comes out of this, then that will be a plus."

The 85-year-old explained that while her family aren't with her in isolation, she is using technology to keep in touch and putting her brain to good use by trying to learn something new for each day she spends in isolation.

She added: "I haven't got my family with me, but we are keeping in touch lots by phone calls and FaceTime.

"I am disciplining myself to learn all the sonnets. I try to learn something new every day, anything."

Like many famous British faces, Dame Judie has also lent her support to the NHS and got behind the 'Choose our Carers' t-shirt campaign, which is raising much-needed funds for the NHS and carers.
