Dane Cook has popped the question.
The 50-year-old comedian announced in an exclusive interview with People on Tuesday that he is engaged to his 23-year-old girlfriend, Kelsi Taylor.
Good Luck Chuck star Cook revealed that he got down on one knee on July 13 in York Beach, Maine. The spot had a sentimental value for him, as it's the same place where he spread his mom's ashes.
He told People that he didn't feel nervous about asking Taylor to be his wife, saying: "I was so ready to ask her. I was completely zen about it."
"The evening of the proposal was incredibly beautiful, the weather was perfect, sunset was spectacular, and I was just quite simply very happy," he continued.
Cook went on to describe the moment, saying: "I was asking my best friend, the woman who I've shared some of the greatest times of my life with, to marry me so we can start the next chapter our of lives together."
"I was also thinking of how absolutely stunning she looked," he added.
Meanwhile, Taylor told the outlet that the proposal was "perfect".
"The second he began to reach for his back pocket, my stomach flipped. I couldn’t have asked for the moment to have been more perfect. All that was going through my brain was, 'Wait, is this actually happening right now? Is he proposing?'" she recalled.
Though Cook and Taylor may be ecstatic about their upcoming nuptials, many people on social media weren't so positive about their relationship due to the 27-year age gap between them - and the fact Taylor was only a teenager when they first got together.
"Look who's engaged to the woman he started seeing when she was 18, and he was 45. Totally not weird," one person tweeted sarcastically.
"Sometimes people are way too weird about age gaps (like saying a 23-year-old shouldn't date a 20-year-old) but a middle-aged man like Dane Cook dating an 18-year-old is f***ing weird, I'm sorry," another added.
"Dane Cook said he met his now 23-year-old fiance when she was 15 and they were just friends and didn't date until she was 18," a third commented, adding: "Yo, where were this girl's parents at?"
