David Harbour has revealed the exact moment he knew Lily Allen was the one.
The romance between the 47-year-old Stranger Things actor and the 37-year-old British pop star first began after they matched on the celebrity dating app Raya.
The couple soon confirmed their relationship after they made their first public appearance before going Instagram official with a picture from a trip to Disneyland.
The pair then took their relationship to the next level by getting married in a Las Vegas ceremony that was officiated by an Elvis Presley impersonator in September 2020.
Read Harbour's wedding post below:The Violent Night actor shared the heartwarming pictures - which included a snapshot of the couple enjoying In-N-Out burgers with Allen's kids - Marnie Rose, 10, and Ethel Cooper, 11 - after the wedding.
Harbour captioned the pictures: "In a wedding officiated by the king himself, the people’s princess wed her devoted, low born, but kind credit card holder in a beautiful ceremony lit by the ashen skies courtesy of a burning state miles away in the midst of a global pandemic," adding, "Refreshments were served at a small reception following."
After tying the knot three years ago, the Hellboy star has now revealed to GQ Hype the story behind their romance and how he knew the 'Smile' musician was the woman for him.
"She claims to have fallen in love at first sight with me - I mean, who wouldn’t? I remember the exact moment. It was our third date," he shared. "I was just in this phase, where I was like, I’m just going to be brutally honest about everything, because why lie?
"And I told her something about my life, about my beliefs," he continued. "It would take a really extraordinary person to be accepting of the things that I said. And I remember thinking: Wow, that’s somebody I want to be around."
While Harbour did not disclose any information about the beliefs in question, nor what they were about, he has previously opened up about his political and religious views.
In July 2021 he revealed to The Guardian that he identifies as a socialist, saying: "I don't know that there's anyone who could disagree with socialist ideology," and revealed to The Pitch in 2019 that he has studied numerous religions, including Catholicism and Buddhism.
The pair's marriage seems to be going well as Harbour spoke about the "special relationship" he shares with the 'Not Fair' singer's daughters from her marriage with ex-husband Sam Cooper.
"I've learned a lot about myself. You really have to show up for other human beings in a truly selfless way. I was, like, 'Whoa, this is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to deal with,'" he told The Times. "The relationship I have with them now is really, really special. But, you know, it takes time and effort."
Previously, the actor candidly said during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live that the girls were confused by his role in their lives. He recalled the time Marnie repeatedly called him "Dad" instead of "David" as they were riding a bike through the countryside.
"The older one got very upset with that, which I understand, and said: 'He's not our dad, he's not our dad,'" he said. "And the younger one was like: 'Well, what is he? He’s kind of our dad? He's kind of our stepdad?' and the older one said: 'He's just some guy in our lives.'
"I was like, 'I need to marry this woman because of the emotional fallout…,'" he quipped. "It's like my favorite thing I’ve ever been called."
