Arleen Sorkin, the Days Of Our Lives star and original voice actress of DC's Harley Quinn, has sadly died at the age of 67.

The devastating news was announced by voice actor Neil Kaplan who took to the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) to pay tribute to his late friend.

Sharing a picture of the actress, as well as a picture of her iconic portrayal of Quinn, the 56-year-old wrote: "It broke my heart to hear… the original voice of Harley Quinn, Arlene Sorkin has passed away. I adored her work as HQ & as Calliope in Days of Our Lives."

A source told The Hollywood Reporter that Sorkin passed away on Thursday, August 24, with health issues reportedly holding her back from acting in the final years of her life.

Many actors have been paying tribute to the late performer, with Star Wars legend Mark Hamill, who was behind the voice of Joker in Batman: The Animated Series, expressing his sadness on social media.

"Devastated to learn we’ve lost the brilliant Arleen Sorkin. Not just a wonderful talent, but a truly wonderful person. I’m grateful not only to have worked with her, but to have been her friend," he wrote. "Sending my heartfelt condolences to her family & loved ones."

James Gunn, Co-CEO of DC Studios, also penned on Instagram: "Rest in Peace, Arleen Sorkin, the incredibly talented original voice of Harley Quinn, who helped to create the character so many of us love. Love to her family and friends."

The actress's role as Harley Quinn - which was created by her friend/writer Paul Dini - proved to be a hit as she also appeared in additional video games, animated movies, and animated series such as The New Batman Adventures from 1997 until 1999 and 2003's Justice League.

Outside of the DC universes, Sorkin starred as the popular character Calliope Jones in the hit NBC soap Days Of Our Lives. She first appeared on the show in 1984 and starred on and off until 2010.

She received plenty of recognition from fans and award shows for her time on the TV drama. She earned four Soap Opera Digest Awards and was even granted two Daytime Emmy Award nominations.
