Actor Cody Longo, who was best known for his role in Days Of Our Lives, has died at the age of 34, according to reports.

Longo - who also went by Cody Anthony - was reportedly found dead at a home in Austin, Texas, with a family member telling TMZ that the alarm was raised by his wife Stephanie after she failed to reach him.

She had been at work at a local dance studio and called police to check up on her husband after feeling uneasy when she could not get in contact with him, a family member claimed.

When officers attended the property, they kicked down the door after getting no answer, before finding Longo dead in bed.

Longo's wife told TMZ: "He was an amazing father and the best husband. Our whole world is shattered."

While an official cause of death is yet to be confirmed, the family member told the outlet that they believe alcoholism may have played a part in his death.

The insider claimed that the actor had struggled with alcohol abuse for years and went to rehab over the summer, and believed he may have relapsed before his death.

Longo had starred in eight episodes of Days Of Our Lives in 2011 as Nicholas Alamein, and also appeared on Nashville as Quentin in 2016.

Other credits include playing Eddie Duran on 78 episodes of Hollywood Heights, and starring in Bring It On: Fight To The Finish, as well as roles on CSI, the 2009 remake of Fame, and Piranha 3D.

Actress Brittany Underwood, who starred alongside Longo on Hollywood Heights, wrote on Instagram: "Deeply saddened and at a loss for words hearing of the passing of Cody Longo …..still processing….still doesn’t feel like it really happened….thank you for taking the incredible journey with me of Eddie and Loren….it’s still one of my favorite stories I ever got to be a part of….my heart and soul go out to your wife and kids and all those you left behind…..it just….doesn’t feel real…."

Talent manager and producer Alex Gittelson added on Twitter: "Devastated beyond words at the tragic loss of my dear friend and client, Cody Longo. My heart breaks for his beautiful family. You will be missed, brother."

He leaves behind his wife and three children - a seven-year-old daughter and two sons, aged five and one.
