Doja Cat has been heavily criticized after blasting out at fans in a bizarre rant.

The 27-year-old singer and rapper took to the Meta app, Threads, over the weekend to share a series of posts hitting out at fans over the nature of their support.

Doja - whose real name is Amala Zandile Dlamini - took aim at her supporters who use the nickname "Kittenz" to describe the fan community, saying: "My fans don’t get to name themselves s***."

"If you call yourself a 'Kitten' or f***ing 'Kittenz' that means you need to get off your phone and get a job and help your parents with the house," she added before deleting the posts.

One supporter questioned the 'Say So' hitmaker's outlandish remarks, tweeting in response, "??? only using the name YOU gave your fans," which is true as back in 2020, she asked fans if they wanted to be named Kittens. However, she tried to justify her comments by stating that she chose the name when she was "an alcoholic teen".

Doja also slammed one fan account that had been using her "government name" as their social media handle, exclaiming: "You making my government name your sn [screenname] is creepy as f***," later deleting it.

And when someone with a username containing the term "kittenz" asked her what she'd prefer they change the fanbase name to, the 'Rules' singer said: "Just delete the entire account and rethink everything it’s never too late."

The Grammy-winning star infuriated fans even more by refusing to tell them that she loved them, penning: "I don’t though cuz I don’t even know y’all."

Doja lashing out at her supporters has left many people disappointed, with some turning their backs on her altogether by deleting or deactivating their fan pages.

One person wrote: "Doja Cat slandering her fans is crazy tbh cos I don’t understand why you would attack your fans for just giving themselves a name just like every other fanbase out there."

Another user said: "I’ve been supporting Doja Cat even before 'Say So' got popular and I’ve been with her since the beginning of her mainstream career. it’s so saddening to see Doja spiral downward in her career, her music, and her personality. Sorry Doja but I have to unstan it’s [too] much."

A third user who has "ex kitten" in their display name, quipped: "Me [handshake emoji] making 'I use[d] to be a Doja cat fan’ my whole personality now."

A fourth user referenced her cat look at the 2023 Met Gala and remarked: "Doja being mean to her fans for bc of the word kitten like her name isn’t Doja CAT and she wasn’t dressed as a cat and meowed her way through an entire interview a few months ago oh she has lost her mind."

While it is unclear what initially sparked the outburst from the 'Kiss Me More' songstress, it will be interesting to see whether the backlash will affect her upcoming nationwide tour, set to kick off in San Francisco this October.
