After getting fans tongues wagging with a workout video on Instagram, Elizabeth Hurley has risked outraging her fans on social media today for praising her "beastly" cat for killing a rabbit.

The model shared news of the animal's death on Instagram stories when she posted that her 16-year-old pet cat, called Mitzi, had protected her lettuce patch by killing the rabbit.

Sharing a snap of the cat with the rabbit in its mouth, she wrote: "Mitzi is 16-years-old and still at it... beastly cat (but my lettuces happy).

The 54-year-old has frequently shared her cat on social media before, playfully calling the feline Mitzi Kitzi.

In addition to the cat, the model owns two spaniels called Mia and Ava.

This is Hurley's recent summer sun workout that set tongues wagging:

However, in 2016, Hurley was left "heartbroken" and "devastated" after her Bengal cat Mr. Mew went missing.

At the time, Hurley had returned home from a New Year getaway to India and pleaded with her followers to help look for the animal, promising a "big reward" if Mr. Mew was successfully returned to her.

Per the Daily Mail, she wrote: "My beautiful Mr. Mew is missing. He's a small Bengal and very friendly.

"My son and I are devastated. We live near Donnington in Herefordshire."

Hurley continued her plea on Twitter, writing: "Please look out for him if you live locally. Big reward for his safe return."

Six months later, Hurley took to social media again to thank fans after Mr. Mew was found safe and well, writing: "Happy days!!! Mr. Mew has been found. Six months missing and now found. Thank you to everyone who kept looking."

This comes after the model recently shared pictures of herself walking her dog with her 18-year-old son Damien in the countryside where they are currently self-isolating with other family members.
