Elon Musk's ex-girlfriend has disclosed that she made $165,000 from auctioning off his photos from their time together, in order to pay for her stepson's college tuition, CBS News reports.

Jennifer Gwynne, 48, dated the 51-year-old Tesla CEO from 1994 to 1995 when they were students at the University of Pennsylvania and broke up before he amassed his fortunes.

She revealed that she sold a collection of never-before-seen pictures and mementos for thousands of dollars each on Thursday (September 15).

The items auctioned included a birthday card - in which Musk calls her 'Boo-Boo' - sold for $16,643, a dorm room picture of the billionaire laying upside down for $21,889, and a 14k-gold necklace Musk gifted to her in 1994 for $51,008 among other items.

Check out the photos below:

Additional items sold were 18 separate photos of the pair during their romance at university, including photographs of her and Musk eating out and hanging out with friends.

Gwynne explained when she and tech titan broke up, he graduated and moved to California. She said that the pair tried keeping in touch over the phone but it seemed like a "waste of time," telling The Boston Globe: "We broke up just before he started conquering the world."

According to the outlet, she got the idea to sell off the valuable items - which she had kept for many years - after learning that some of Musk’s graded test papers were auctioned off for over $7,000.

Shortly, Gwynne realized the mementos that she had in her possession were of more importance to fans of the SpaceX founder and would help her financially support a family member in their college journey.

Although the world's richest man and his college sweetheart have not kept in touch since they broke up 27 years ago, Musk changed his Twitter icon to one of the photos of him up for auction.

The picture sold for $9,375 shows a 23-year-old Musk in a Judge Dredd t-shirt in a fourth-floor study hall in one of the Quad towers at the university.

According to the Independent, Gwynne commented on Musk's apparent show of support and said: "Based on his Twitter profile today, I think he’s all good with me."
