Emily Blunt has announced that she will be taking a break from acting.

During a recent interview with the hosts of the Table for Two podcast, the 40-year-old stated that she's going to be taking an entire "year" away from acting so that she can spend more time with her family.

The actress, who was recently out in Paris promoting her new film Oppenheimer alongside Florence Pugh and Robert Downy Jr, is a mother to daughters Hazel, 9, and Violet, 7 who she shares with her husband John Krasinski.

"This year, I'm not working. I worked quite a bit last year and my oldest baby is nine, so we're in the last year of single digits," Blunt explained. "And I just feel [like] there are cornerstones to their day that are so important when they're little."

She stressed how important it was for her to show up for her children, especially at this point in time.

"And it's, 'Will you wake me up? Will you take me to school? Will you pick me up? Will you put me to bed?' And I just need to be there for all of them for a good stretch. And I just felt that in my bones."

With all this free time now, Blunt also opened up about she and her husband spend their days together.

"It’s usually the morning. We [rescued] a puppy who’s absolutely beautiful... I wasn’t wanting to get a dog, but the kids were pushing for it and John was up for it," she said. "I don’t mind getting up early with this puppy because it means that John and I can kind of talk in the morning and catch up and really talk before the kids are up and everything."

The Mary Poppins Returns star also admitted that she enjoys watching TV more saying: "I love watching things like The Voice, I mean, we love The Voice."

Elsewhere, the actress gave us some insight on how it feels to be neighbors with Matt Damon, who Blunt was honored to work with in her latest project Oppenheimer.

"Matt [Damon] is just the most easygoing, beautiful person. Lucy [his wife] is even more beautiful – sorry, Matt," she said. "But we all became friends and then they moved to Brooklyn and they said 'We found this amazing building.' And of course, we were like, 'We’ll live in the same building!'

She also revealed that the two families like to spend Sunday dinners together and that her children both really "love" him.

The news comes after Blunt and Krasinski recently celebrated their 13th wedding anniversary.

After tying the knot in 2010 in Lake Como, Italy, the pair have gone from strength to strength over the past decade.

Speaking of the first time the on-and-off-screen lovers met back in 2018, Blunt told talk-show host Seth Meyers that it's actually "kind of a sad, lame story."

"I was in a restaurant, he was in the restaurant," she said. "I was sitting with a mutual friend and my friend, Gray, goes, 'Oh my god, that's my friend, John.' And that was it. He was sitting with our friend, Justin Theroux, and he abandoned Justin and came over to us. He just stood there and made me laugh."

And that's all it took.

The pair went on a few dates before officially getting together and the rest is history.

Congratulations to the happy couple on hitting 13 years! Here's to many more!
