Euphoria star Chloe Cherry has been charged with misdemeanor retail theft after allegedly stealing a blouse.

As reported by People, the 25-year-old former adult film star - who appeared in the HBO drama as Faye - is accused of shoplifting a blouse worth $28 from a store in her native hometown Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

According to legal documents obtained by the publication, the model - whose real name is Elise Jones - was charged on Monday (January 23) and the alleged incident is said to have taken place in December at the Building Character shopping center.

However, Cherry's representatives have denied the claims and told TMZ that the event happened when "there was confusion over a blouse that wasn’t properly charged to my client’s credit card".

According to the Daily Mail, an employee at the retailer showed authorities surveillance footage featuring the actress taking a Moda International blouse into a fitting room. The blouse was not retrieved from the dressing room afterward.

Law enforcement disclosed that the worker told them that Cherry used a credit card to pay for separate items and that she confessed to taking the blouse and returning it to the officer.

However, her agent rejected the claim and said: "In no way did she 'admit' to taking the blouse, since that was not the case. This story seems to be more about a local store trading on a celebrity’s name more than anything else," per TMZ.

Meanwhile, the owner of Building Character, Marty Hulse - who was not aware that Cherry was an actress - told the outlet that the clothing had been taken from the retailer Jenny & the Clowder, which is upstairs from the other vendors.

They also said that shoplifters are always captured by the evidence they leave behind, adding: "Most times when we find people who are shoplifting, we don't find them in the act."

"They'll take the tag off of it and throw it somewhere. Then we see the tag, and we can find them on the camera and where it came from, and that's exactly what happened," Hulse said. "I know it sounds piddly, but when it comes down to it, we're all small businesses - you're stealing from your neighbors."

The complex's general manager Joel Henry interjected that the security camera system in the area has been updated and that reportedly around one or two shoplifters have been caught each month.

The actress made her mainstream acting debut last year in the second season of Euphoria which stars Zendaya. She began her career in the pornographic film industry, but quit following the success of the HBO show.

In an interview last year with the Call Me Daddy podcast, Cherry said that doing sex work made her relationship with her mother difficult as she told her that it was "the lowest thing a person can do".

"That’s like the one thing I’ll share [publicly] that I disagree with so deeply," Cherry responded. "And I don’t know if there are other people out there that agree with that but I think trying to put down your own family is lower."

Cherry is now scheduled for a preliminary hearing in court on February 22
