Amber Heard's lawyer has been left lost for words after a former TMZ producer called her out in court.

Ex-media chief Morgan Tremaine had a spat with attorney Elaine Bredehoft yesterday (May 25) after she accused him of taking the witness stand so he could get his "15-minutes of fame".

Tremaine was called as a witness for Heard's ex-husband Johnny Depp, as the former celebrity couple's high-profile defamation trial draws to a close.

Depp is suing Heard for $50 million over an op-ed she wrote for The Washington Post in 2018, in which she claimed to be a survivor of domestic abuse. The Pirates of the Caribbean star maintains that he was the real victim of his violent marriage with Heard and that her allegations have caused him to lose out on high-paying movie roles.

Heard, meanwhile, has doubled down on her accusations and countersued for $100 million, citing several separate occasions when she claims Depp was physically abusive during the course of their relationship.

As the blockbuster trial drew to a close this week, Depp's lawyers called Tremaine to the witness stand, asking him to confirm that TMZ had been asked to send photographers to the LA courthouse on May 27, 2016, the day Heard filed for a restraining order against her ex.

Tremaine told the court that Heard had worked with the photographers to help stage a picture that shows off an injury on her face.

"We were trying to capture Amber leaving the courthouse and an alleged bruise on the right side of her face," he said, adding: "She was going to sort of stop and turn towards the camera to display the bruise on the right side of her face, the alleged bruise."

When asked if the photographers got the shot they were after, Tremaine replied: "We did."

Heard has denied working with the media outlet. When it came to cross-examining Tremaine, her lawyer Bredehoft was decidedly frosty as she sought to discredit him.

"You know this case is being televised, don't you?" she asked him. When Tremaine confirmed he did, the lawyer added: "So this case is your 15-minutes of fame."

The ex-producer replied: "I'm actually putting myself kind of in the target of TMZ, a very litigious organization. And I'm not seeking any 15-minutes here. I could say the same thing about taking Amber Heard as a client, for you."

Laughter exploded in the courtroom at the witty response.

Closing arguments in the trial are scheduled for tomorrow, Friday, May 27.
