A former TMZ employee has testified that Amber Heard's team helped stage a snap of her with an alleged bruise on her face.
Heard's lawyers have claimed that the injury was the result of her ex-husband Johnny Depp being physically abusive.
Today is the final day of Depp and Heard's blockbuster legal battle against one another. The Pirates of the Caribbean star is suing his former spouse for $50 million over a 2018 Washington Post op-ed in which she claimed to be a victim of sexual assault. He maintains that he was the real victim in their relationship and that Heard's allegations wrecked his reputation and his career.
Heard meanwhile has doubled down on her claims and countersued for $100 million, naming several occasions during their relationship when Depp was physically abusive towards her.
This Wednesday, ex-TMZ producer Morgan Tremaine was called to the stand by Depp's legal team to testify over a set of paparazzi snaps, which show Heard leaving a Los Angeles courthouse on May 27, 2016 (the day she filed for a restraining order from her ex-husband) with an alleged bruise on the side of her face.
Tremaine - who was in charge of dispatching around 20 paparazzi around LA at the time - was asked who he usually received tip-offs from by Depp's attorneys.
"Oftentimes it would be publicists, managers, agents or B-list celebrities... and lawyers, definitely," he explained.
Tremaine went on to explain how the news producers who had asked him to send paps to the courthouse would not have done so without verifying the credibility of their source.
"We were trying to capture Amber leaving the courthouse and an alleged bruise on the right side of her face," he explained to the court in Fairfax, Virginia.
"She was going to sort of stop and turn towards the camera to display the bruise on the right side of her face, the alleged bruise," he added.
When asked if his photographers got the shot, Tremaine replied, "We did."
The Edward Scissorhands star's lawyer asked whether he would typically send paparazzi to law office parking lots, to which he responded: "No, not at all."
Later in his testimony, Tremaine described other occasions when he was instructed to send paparazzi to photograph Heard during her divorce from Depp.
Heard has previously denied ever working with TMZ. Closing arguments in the trial are scheduled for later today.
