The latest season of Rick and Morty has been slammed by viewers as the episodes regularly focus on incest, according to fans.

The animated show has been a classic for years and is known for its provocative topics, however, one running theme as of late has left many fans feeling exhausted.

In the latest season of the show, an episode showed siblings Morty and Summer accidentally conceiving a baby, while the third episode of the current season displayed Beth having sex with her clone Space Beth.

However, it was episode five of the sixth season, which aired on October 3, that frustrated fans to the point where they felt they had to share their opinions and critique the show on Twitter.

Watch the scene below:

The episode was titled Final DeSmithation and follows the family's trip to Panda Express. However, the episode turns awkward after they all open their post-meal fortune cookies.

Jerry's fortune cookie doesn't include a cliché, but, instead, it had a rather disturbing prediction that he will have sex with his own mother.

The scene was not welcomed with open arms, as some online users finally had enough and addressed the running theme of the series.

One irritated user wrote: "Rick and Morty, I love ya but that's enough incest episodes. You’ve hit your quota for incest episodes, no more please."

Another commented: "So crazy how when [the] first season of Rick and Morty came out, people were freaking out over countless theories about that one scene at the end and now people talk about it only when they put weird incest in [the] episode again."

A third user chimed in and hilariously said: "Rick and Morty's writers never beating the incest allegations."

A fourth disappointed user shared: "The way I stopped watching Rick and Morty and haven’t watched the new season because the incest stuff just made the rest of the show really awkward and not even in a funny way."

The show's co-creators Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland said the secret to comedy is to make yourself laugh, which is why they explained to VICE that incest is a topic on the show because they think it's hilarious.

In addition to this, Harmon's previous show, Community, famously had an incest episode right at the end of its run, so perhaps his comedic interest in the theme dates back to well before Rick and Morty was created.

The popular series is meant to be shocking, but viewers believe that when the jokes are this frequent, it looks like there is no creative growth.

Do you guys agree that the show's incest theme is getting old? Comment down below.
