8-Year-old Alan Kim delivers emotional speech after winning Critics' Choice Award

Alan Kim has delighted social media users after he delivered an emotional speech after winning a Critics' Choice Award this week.

According to The Independent, the eight-year-old actor could be seen breaking down in tears after being named Best Young Performer for his role in the film Minari, which follows a South Korean family who immigrates to the United States in the 1980s.

In an appearance via Zoom link on the virtual awards show, the child actor can be seen wearing a pint-sized tuxedo and thanking his family for the award and the critics who voted for him.

Speaking through tears, Kim can be seen stating: "I hope I will be in other movies,” before asking: “Is this a dream? I hope it’s not a dream."

On social media, a number of Twitter users have since reacted to the young boy's adorable and touching display of gratitude.

For instance, one person wrote: "well alan kim winning a critics choice award just made me cry in the bath. [sic]"

Another person stated: "GIVE. HIM. EVERY. AWARD! [sic]"

Meanwhile, someone else wrote: "OMG WHY IS ALAN KIM THE CUTEST KID EVER???? CRYING DURING HIS SPEECH!!! I WANT TO GIVE HIM A HUG!!! [sic]"

Another person wrote: "I'm literally crying watching him cry. So sweet."

Someone else then chimed in: "He is adorable and so talented! [sic]"

One Twitter user also commented: "I'm so happy that he won, I saw Minari yesterday, he's the GOAT [sic]"

Kim's costar, Walking Dead actor Steven Yeun, (who portrayed David's father Jacob Yi in the movie) has also taken to his own personal Twitter account to reacted to the tearful speech.

In a tweet addressed to his 1.4 million followers, Yeun wrote simply: "ALAN KIM!!!!!!!!! BAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! [sic]"

According to Kim's IMDB bio page, Minari is Alan's movie debut, although he was recently shown in the national campaign of Pottery Barn Kids, and is set to have a role in an upcoming project called Latchkey Kids.

Alan is currently in the second grade, and his favourite school subjects are Math and Science. The bio page notes that he also enjoys bike riding in his free time.
