As AI becomes smarter and smarter, people are putting it to the best use possible -- transforming things we already love into things we'd hate to see.

Whether it's pretending to be a pretty woman to trick lonely Redditors or even scoring your own levels of attractiveness, artificial intelligence is being used for some bizarre reasons.

One YouTube account by the name of AVendettaForYou has gained thousands of followers by tasking AI to create horror movies from beloved childhood favorites, such as The Flintstones or Bambi.

The person behind the creepy results writes: "I do different AI generation concepts and various other activities as a passion."

In one video - titled 'Shrek as an 80's Dark Fantasy Film' - artificial intelligence has transformed the beloved characters from the popular 2001 movie into utterly terrifying versions of themselves.

From Shrek to Donkey to even poor Gingerbread Man, nobody was safe from this horrifying makeover.

Check it out below:

Honestly, if somebody told me this was coming to Netflix later this year, I'd believe them.

After the video amassed over 300,000 views, people took to the comments section to share their thoughts, with one YouTube user writing: "The gingerbread man perfectly embodies of the creepiness of '80s puppetry or claymation."

A second added: "Donkey looks like he's straight up about to get sucked into the sadness while a little boy cries."

"I feel like David Bowie will appear suddenly with three glowing balls," another person wrote - a reference to the hit 80s movie, Labyrinth.

One person even pointed out just how impressive it was that the AI made Princess Fiona bare a striking resemblance to her voice actress, Cameron Diaz.

But despite the fun that can be had with AI apps, Elon Musk has been vocal about his fears surrounding artificial intelligence, having previously said that it's "more dangerous than nukes", via CNBC News, and that it could pose a real threat to humankind.

In fact, he had a meeting - which lasted about an hour - with US Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer on Wednesday (April 26) to discuss his concerns about AI.

"Met with @SenSchumer and many members of Congress about artificial intelligence regulation today." Musk tweeted.

"That which affects safety of the public has, over time, become regulated to ensure that companies do not cut corners. AI has great power to do good and evil. Better the former."

While speaking at the South by Southwest tech conference in Austin, Texas, back in 2018, he spoke in detail about the supposed dangers of AI. He told the crowd: "The biggest issue I see with so-called AI experts is that they think they know more than they do, and they think they are smarter than they actually are. This tends to plague smart people. They define themselves by their intelligence and they don't like the idea that a machine could be way smarter than them, so they discount the idea - which is fundamentally flawed."

He went on to say: "I am really quite close, I am very close, to the cutting edge in AI and it scares the hell out of me. "It's capable of vastly more than almost anyone knows and the rate of improvement is exponential."

He also said there needs to be a regulatory body to oversee the development of AI, adding: "I am not normally an advocate of regulation and oversight. I think one should generally err on the side of minimizing those things, but this is a case where you have a very serious danger to the public."

Whether it's down to creepy Farquaad or robots taking over our lives, just try your best not to have any nightmares tonight.
