Barbara Corcoran has issued an apology after making a joke about Whoopi Goldberg's size during her appearance on The View.
The 72-year-old Shark Tank star was a guest on Thursday's episode of the hit talk show, as the panel discussed the upcoming season of the business-based reality TV show.
However, things quickly turned sour while the panel spoke about Khloé Kardashian's inclusive denim company, Good American. Goldberg, 65, joked if the company's jeans would be able to fit her "covid butt", with co-hosts Ana Navarro and Sunny Hostin insisting that she could rock the jeans.
But then Corcoran made a comment that hit a nerve with the studio audience and viewers at home. The real estate mogul said to Whoopi: "When you get finished with those jeans, and decide you don’t like them, give them to me. I'm gonna make two pairs!"
Watch the uncomfortable moment below:The "joke" instantly drew audible groans from those in the studio - and Corcoran's facial expression quickly turned to an awkward smile.
Navarro was quick to swoop in and take the attention away from Goldberg, telling her: "Whoopi, let me just tell you something. Both Sara Haines and Jill Biden wore that dress already on TV," as she pointed to Corcoran's outfit choice.
Viewers also took to social media to slam the "fat-shaming" remark, with one person tweeting: "‘Shark Tank’ star Barbara Corcoran fat shames the legendary Whoopi Goldberg on national TV. But don’t worry, Whoopi’s ‘ride or die’ Ana Navarro immediately buries Corcoran."
A second Twitter user wrote: "[Cannot] believe the fat joke made at @WhoopiGoldberg by Barbara Corcoran on The View today. Such a sad thing that fat shaming is still socially acceptable."
Following the show, Corcoran took to her official Twitter account to share an apology video to Whoopi and anybody she may have unintentionally offended.
In the video, she says: "I just came back from The View and saw my old friend, Whoopi. As you well know, she has a phenomenal sense of humor and I’ve known Whoopi for years," she explained. "I made a joke at Whoopi’s expense, which I now realize wasn’t funny."
The Shark Tank star added: "For anyone I may have offended unintentionally, I just want to say I really am very sorry."
