The satirical character of Borat has taken to Twitter to defend Rudy Giuliani's "innocent sexytime encounter" - posting the video message moments before last night's presidential debate on October 22.

The fictional Kazakhstani delegate, played by British comedian and actor Sacha Baron Cohen, posted a video on his official Twitter account this week, stating to his 232,000 followers that the 76-year-old Trump attorney was entirely blameless.

Per The Guardian, one scene in the highly anticipated movie - titled Borat Subsequent Moviefilm - shows Maria Bakalova, an actress playing Borat's daughter, posing as a journalist to interview Giuliani.

Giuliani was questioned by Bakalova in a hotel room about the Trump Administration's response to the ongoing pandemic, unaware that the room contained a number of concealed cameras.

The Guardian then states that after the actress removes Giuliani's microphone, he can be seen lying back on the bed, "fiddling with his untucked shirt and reaching into his trousers", before Cohen bursts into the room and says: "She’s 15. She’s too old for you."

In a humourous "official statement" posted on Twitter, Cohen appeared in-character as Borat and stated:

"Jagshemash. I'm here to defend America's mayor Rudolf Giuliani.

"What was an innocent sexy time encounter between a consenting man and my 15-year-old daughter has been turned into something disgusting by fake news media.

"I warn you, anyone else try this and Rudolf will not hesitate to reach out into his legal briefs and whip out his subpoenas."

Giuliani has personally responded to the scene on Twitter, tweeting to his 837,000 followers:

"At no time before, during, or after the interview was I ever inappropriate. If Sacha Baron Cohen implies otherwise he is a stone-cold liar.

"This is an effort to blunt my relentless exposure of the criminality and depravity of Joe Biden and his entire family."

Giuliani also went on to claim that he contacted the police as soon as he knew that he'd been set-up by Cohen, adding that the scene is "complete fabrication" and that he was simply "tucking in [his] shirt."

The film has been made available for streaming on Amazon Prime on Friday, October 23.

It sees the outrageously offensive diplomat return to America to deal with the effect of Covid-19 on the United States, as well as Donald Trump's presidency and the upcoming US election.
