A bride on a reality TV show had a pretty explicit response when she met her husband for the first time, all because of a prank gone wrong.

Getting married isn't for everyone, and that's perfectly okay, but for some, it is the ultimate goal.

While there are more conventional ways to meet a partner and settle down, the modern world has many different doors open.

Reality TV doesn't always lead to happily ever after, but some think it can be the way to meet their partner.

Married At First Sight is a show that seems to have a version in every country, and the UK one has handed us a hilarious moment.

UK channel E4 gave eager fans a sneak peek of the season with a humorous yet cringe-worthy "first look" clip featuring one couple whose introduction at the altar is far from smooth.

The moment has already stirred reactions online, with some viewers calling it "cheap behavior" and a major "ick."

In the clip, Kieran Chapman, 28, a mechanic, attempts to lighten the mood with a prank on his bride-to-be, Kristina Goodsell, 30.

As he awaits her arrival at the altar, Kieran dons a set of false, broken, and rotting teeth, ready to greet her with a less-than-ideal first impression.

As Kristina approaches with a smile, cherishing the significance of the moment, Kieran flashes the unsightly false teeth and asks through a garbled voice, "Are you alright, are you OK? What's your name?"

Kristina’s reaction was swift and unfiltered. Clearly taken aback by the prank, she exclaimed in a voiceover: “What the f**k?”

Kieran explained his motivation behind the joke, saying: "I think the teeth could make us look a little bit immature. I'm a little bit nervous to see how it goes. This could really end up bad. I just want to know if this girl's fun."

However, many viewers felt the prank missed the mark.

One person said: "Being able to take a joke is very different from putting up with immaturity. I think that's hilarious but definitely isn't appropriate under those circumstances."

A second added: "The fact he would do that is an instant ick."

While a third said: "No thanks! Reminds me of something my ex would do, and that’s why he’s my ex! Constantly p*ssing around and loving being the center of attention."

It's safe to say that not many think that meeting your wife for the first time is the appropriate place to try and pull off a prank.

If you're as eager as I am to see how this all unfolds, the latest season of Married at First Sight UK premiered on E4 at 9:00pm on 16 September.
