Bridgerton has unveiled the four new actors set to join its cast for the show's highly anticipated second season.

While many fans of the hugely popular period drama are still reeling from shock after Regé-Jean Page's sudden exit from the show, the Netflix series is now giving viewers something else to look forward to.

After revealing back in February that a new character named Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley) would be joining the costume drama, the show's bosses have now named two of the character's family members.

Yesterday, Netflix revealed the two additions of the Sharma family as well as two other new characters in a tweet.

The streaming platform wrote: "Bridgerton has added four actors to Season 2: Charithra Chandran will play Edwina Sharma, Kate’s younger sister and Shelley Conn will play Mary Sharma, Kate’s mother.

"Also say hello to Calam Lynch who will play Theo Sharpe and Rupert Young who will play Jack."

The names might be familiar to you if you've happened to watch some of their previous works. Chandran was in the Amazon Prime series Alex Rider, Conn appeared in the ITV drama Liar, Lynch starred in 2017's Dunkirk, and Young appeared in the drama series Merlin.

Sharing the exciting news, Bridgerton tweeted in the tone of narrator Lady Whistledown: "Dear Readers, it seems we have a few new faces in the Ton. Do try your best to welcome them generously. I know I certainly will..."

The fourfold addition to the cast of Bridgerton comes just days after it was announced that Regé-Jean Page would be leaving after playing heartthrob Simon Basset, the Duke of Hastings for just one season.

Bridgerton shared a letter - again written in the tone of Lady Whistledown - announcing the news:

"While all eyes turn to Lord Anthony Bridgerton's quest to find a Viscountess, we bid adieu to Regé-Jean Page, who so triumphantly played the Duke of Hastings. We'll miss Simon's presence onscreen, but he will always be a part of the Bridgerton family."

The letter also made sure to highlight that Phoebe Dynevor, who plays the Duke's love interest and eventual wife Daphne Bridgerton, will return:

"Daphne will remain a devoted wife and sister, helping her brother navigate the upcoming social season and what it has to offer — more intrigue and romance than my readers may be able to bear."

Netflix renewed Bridgerton for a second season in January. The second season will follow Lord Anthony Bridgerton, (Jonathan Bailey) in his search for a wife. Simone Ashley will play his love interest, Kate Sharma.
