'Bridgerton' star developed hives and needed steroid cream after filming this sex scene with actor
Bridgerton star Yerin Ha may have filmed some seriously hot-under-the-collar scenes during the period drama's fourth season, but that doesn't mean it was all sunshine and roses.
In fact, the actress has revealed that during the filming of one of her steamy sex scenes with co-star Luke Thompson, she actually developed hives and sought medical attention.
The magic of Hollywood, everyone.
How did Bridgerton star Yerin Ha develop hives during filming?
One of the most memorable scenes in the development of Sophie (Ha) and Benedict's (Thompson) relationship was the...ah...rather steamy get-together that they had in a bath.
But it turns out the filming of the scene was rather more complicated than it may seem - and even needed some hasty medical intervention.
Speaking to Capital Breakfast, Ha explained that to prepare for the scene in the tub, baby powder was applied to her skin, to help keep her intimacy garments attached during the long hours she would be filming in the water.
"The next day [after the scene] I got hives," she said. "All over my body! I got folliculitis [where the hair follicles become inflamed and form painful spots] and needed steroid cream.
"I think it was a combination of the bath water and the baby powder. It's me, I'm a sensitive gal!"
What is Bridgerton season 4 starring Yerin Ha and Luke Thompson about?
The fourth season of Netflix's hit period drama Bridgerton centres on the second Bridgerton brother, Benedict (Thompson), who so far refused any and all calls from his mother (Ruth Gemmell) to settle down.
But one night, attending a masquerade ball held by his mother, Benedict finds himself falling for a mysterious, masked attendee - who turns out to be a young maid called Sophie (Ha).
The season follows Benedict and Sophie's interlinking plots - with Benedict, at first, having no idea it was indeed Sophie who he had fallen so deeply in love with at the ball - with the ultimate question being; can their relationship, forbidden by the society in which they live, flourish and survive?
Much like the other three seasons, Bridgerton's fourth instalment has quickly earned the favour of fans, and has received acclaim for its deft adaption of the corresponding book it is based on, An Offer From a Gentleman.
As well as finally putting Thompson firmly in the spotlight, the season includes reappearances from beloved characters such as Simone Ashley's Kate Sharma and Jonathan Bailey's Anthony Bridgerton.
