Christmas is the perfect time of year to exchange gifts, stuff yourself with food and drink, and curl up in front of the fire to binge-watch some movies.

And if you need a film to really get you in the Christmas spirit, I have good news for you, because the sequel to the wildly-popular movie Christmas Chronicles has just dropped on Netflix today.

Starring real-life celebrity couple Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn, the 2018 original movie told the story of Teddy and Kate Pierce (played by Judah Lewis and Darby Camp), two young siblings who haven't been getting along since their father's death.

However, one Christmas Santa Claus himself (played by Guardians of the Galaxy and Escape From New York star Kurt Russell) arrives in his sleigh and whisks the two kids away on an adventure to reignite their love of the holidays again.

Take a look at the trailer for Christmas Chronicles 2 in the video below:

Per a recent review by Deadline, the sequel sees Kate and Teddy on holiday with their mom and her new boyfriend in Cancun, and are embroiled in another adventure to save Christmas when Belsnickel, a human-hating elf, captures the immortal "Christmas Star" in a bid to wreak total havoc upon the North Pole.

On social media, a number of Twitter users have since reacted with elation and excitement to the news that the sequel has been added to Netflix's library.

For instance, one Twitter user wrote: "My boys loved the Christmas Chronicles. This would be the perfect set to enjoy number 2 with! [sic]"

Meanwhile, someone else added: "Just watched this and I absolutely loved it. Christmas Chronicles 1&2 superb. [sic]"

In a recent interview with People, director Chris Columbus spoke about working with Russell and Hawn, stating:

"There’s a tremendous amount of respect there and a tremendous amount of love and trust, partially because they’ve been together for so long.

"They just get along beautifully. There’s a lot of laughter and it’s just a really, really fun set."

Per Business Insider, Netflix's chief content officer Ted Sarandos claims the first movie received 20 million views in just seven days, stating:

"If every one of those was a movie ticket purchase, that's a $200 million opening week. Even movies that go on to $1 billion don't typically do that in the first week."
