Fans of the classic Christmas movie Home Alone have taken to social media to express their disappointment about Disney's upcoming reboot, Home Sweet Home Alone.
The original 1990 film starred Macaulay Culkin as the precocious Kevin McAllister, who was forced to defend his home from bandits after his parents accidentally abandoned him over the Christmas holiday period. Now, the classic film has had a rebrand, and stars Archie Yates as Max Mercer — who, again, is left behind while his large extended family flies off to Japan.
Their lovely home is then targeted by thieves, Jeff and Pam (played by Rob Delaney and Ellie Kemper), who do their best to try and steal a precious family heirloom...
Watch the trailer below:Perhaps, the sequel wasn't off to the best start, as earlier this week, social media users voiced their disappointment that Culkin would not be appearing in the Disney+ film.
"Hey y'all. Just a heads up since I've been getting this question a lot today: I am NOT in the new Home Alone reboot. I wish all involved the best of luck though," the actor wrote on Twitter.
"Damn," one Twitter user simply responded, while another wrote, "Should definitely have been."
Now, after the release of the trailer, fans have been open in their criticism of the film. In fact, an alarming number of viewers simply took to the comments section to comment, "no" — and it's rather hilarious.

And Twitter, unfortunately, felt the same way...
"I know film trailers can often be misleading but Home Sweet Home Alone looks awful," wrote one social media user, while another corroborated: "Home sweet home alone… sorry im sticking to the classic home alone."
A third added: "Ugh… Why? This new Home Alone looks so unnecessary, recycling the same beats, but safer with the robbers less scary & the kid less sweet. Just watch the original again, it’s a perfect, timeless film Man shrugging."
Some fans even went so far as to criticize Aisling Bea's accent. The Irish actress portrays Max's mom — and she took to social media to set the record straight.
"To everyone who has been wondering online why I have an English accent in the new Home Alone movie, it's because of the character’s English, she’s from England and if she’s from England and spoke with an Irish accent then that would be quite strange," she wrote on Twitter.
She hilariously captioned the post: "It is also not a true-crime documentary about a mother who leaves her son alone to fend for himself, because if it was I would be in jail."
