Marvel has dropped the first full-length trailer for the upcoming movie, Spider-Man: No Way Home - and it has created a buzz among fans online.

The epic trailer shows the MCU's Spider-Man - played by Tom Holland - asking Dr. Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) to help conjure a spell that will make everybody forget that Peter Parker is the web-slinging superhero. This comes after Jake Gyllenhaal's Mysterio revealed Spider-Man's identity to the world at the end of 2019's Far From Home.

At the beginning of the No Way Home trailer, we see Dr. Strange telling Peter: "When you botched that spell where you wanted everybody to forget that Peter Parker is Spider-Man... we started getting some visitors... from every universe."

When fans first heard that the latest Spider-Man movie was going to feature Dr. Strange, rumors quickly circulated that the multiverse would be explored. And with the Disney+ shows Loki and WandaVision exploring the multiverse, the rumors only continued to grow.

Eventually, it reached the point where fans became convinced that both Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield would be reprising their respective roles as Spider-Man.

Maguire played the friendly neighborhood wall-crawler in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 1, 2, and 3 between 2002 and 2007. And Garfield took over the role in The Amazing Spider-Man 1 and 2 back in 2012 and 2014, respectively.

On a recent appearance on the Today show, Garfield continued to deny the rumors, saying: "Listen, I'm not in the film. I love Spider-Man, I always have. I was so happy to have played the part, and I'm so excited to see what they do with the third one, just like you guys are, to be honest. No, that's not a diplomatic answer. I really, really mean it."

But, as always, people online are going to do what they do best, and continue to speculate about what they want to believe.

In fact, fans are convinced that both Maguire and Garfield do feature in the new trailer - but that they've been edited out by Marvel.

In the final minute of the trailer, an explosive battle atop the Statue of Liberty can be seen - with Holland's Spider-Man taking on a slew of villains, such as Sandman, Elektro, and Lizard. (Villains who all appeared in either Maguire's or Garfield's Spider-Man movies? Hmmm. The plot thickens.)

Holland's Spider-Man can then be heard asking: "What’s happening?"

"They’re starting to come through, and I can’t stop them," Dr. Strange responds.

It is at this moment that people believe Garfield and Maguire appear in the movie - but have been edited out of the trailer.

Sharing a screenshot of the scene, one fan wrote: "Yess!! They have cut the other 2 Spideys in this damn scene..Tobey Maguire & Andrew Garfield are fighting along with Tom Holland."

A second added: "AT THE END. LIZARD GETS PUNCHED. NO WAY. THEY MESSED UP BAAAAD. I guess this IS where Maguire and Garfield fight alongside Holland."

A third agreed, tweeting: "Massive props to Sony & Marvel for trying to hide Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield in that trailer. They tried so hard, but they missed [some things]. Like showing Lizard [completely] lunging at nothing. Can’t even argue he was going towards Tom Holland. That was clearly a 3v3."

Of course, this will not be the first time Marvel has tried to pull the wool over the eyes of its fans.

When the trailer was released for Avengers: Infinity War, they cleverly edited footage from the end of the movie to show that Thanos was still missing several of the Infinity Stones - when, in reality, he was only missing the Mind Stone.
