It's been eight years in the making, and this Sunday, we will finally discover who has won the Game of Thrones.

While odds at the start of the season might have firmly favored either Daenerys or Jon, now that its penultimate episode has aired, quite frankly, few people want to see either of them rule. Well, we might not mind Jon, but he's made it pretty clear that he doesn't want the throne, and after last week's episode, Dany well and truly became the Mad Queen.

With that in mind, the three best alternatives are arguably Sansa, Arya, or Tyrion. Maybe Gendry as a shot in the dark.

To stop her reign of terror, Varys even tried to poison Daenerys in last week's episode in a moment many fans missed:

But even if the series doesn't get an ending which will appease all fans (which is pretty much inevitable), take comfort in the knowledge that filming has officially started for the Game of Thrones prequel, Bloodmoon!

Set 5,500 years before the current storyline, Bloodmoon will be centered around the Children of the Forest who, in case your memory needs refreshing, were the people who created the Night King.

This is the scene where the Night King was created:

Filming for the prequel has begun in Belfast, which is where much of Game of Thrones was filmed.

A source revealed to the Sun: "Thrones fans will be delighted to hear things have started with the prequel.

"Those working on the set in Belfast are referring to the series as Bloodmoon. Producers have put together a stellar cast and it will be must-watch telly for anyone who loves Game Of Thrones."

If you haven't seen it yet, this is the preview for the FINAL EVER episode of Game of Thrones:

The source said that the prequel, which stars Naomi Watts, will detail "horrifying secrets of Westeros's history to the true origin of the White Walkers."

The series will be written and produced by Jonathan Ross' wife, Jane Goldman, and will reportedly be "big budget".

Needless to say, Goldman will be working closely with George R. R. Martin.
