If you're a fan of Netflix's always-gripping crime drama The Sinner, you'll be pleased to know that we have now been given a first look at the show's third season.

The new season was originally supposed to start airing this year, but to the dismay of the show's eager fans, it was pushed back to 2020.

In any case, Detective Harry Ambrose (Bill Pullman) will be back with a new crime to solve. Expect the new season to be as dark and suspenseful as the previous two - or if the promo is anything to go by, even more so.

While the short promo doesn't give away much, it does set a sinister mood with a mysterious car crash, which, knowing the show, definitely won't have been an accident. Detective Ambrose will be tasked with investigating the tragic crash and, more specifically, finding out who was responsible for it.

Expect this season to the most shocking yet as, according to an E! News report, the detective "uncovers a hidden crime that pulls him into the most dangerous and disturbing case of his career."

When the official Twitter account for The Sinner tweeted the arrival of the third season's promo, fans couldn't wait to share their excitement.

"I can't wait for season 3," wrote one fan. "I love the mystery behind the trauma of each victim and why and how."

"The previous have been so creepy & weird in a stellar way," said another. "Very entertaining!"

"Been waiting for this," wrote a third.

If you're looking for other gripping (read: creepy) series and movies to watch on Netflix, you should know that the streaming giant now has its own Halloween category, Netflix and Chills:

In any case, season three of The Sinner is set to air on the USA Network and Netflix in 2020.
