The first screening of a new horror movie has caused havoc amongst audiences - and we can certainly see why.

The third instalment of Damien Leone's Terrifier franchise has finally made its debut across the pond in London where nine people allegedly walked out of the screening room within the first few minutes.

If you haven't seen it already, watch the trailer below:

According to the Daily Mail, cinema-goers who sat down at the Vue theatre in Leicester Square were left "traumatized" after watching the opening scene of Terrifier 3, which is hailed to be the most anticipated movie of the month on Rotten Tomatoes.

And just while we're on the topic, early screenings of the movie earned a solid 88 percent fresh rating via the official website (at the time of writing.)

The outlet reported that the film's opening scene alone led to nine people walking out, with one person reportedly throwing up during the first few minutes and another having a panic attack following another scene.

Medical professionals were kept on standby as the rest of the movie continued.

After the insanity that is Terrifier and Terrifier 2, the third movie is set to tell the story of Art the Clown who is set to unleash chaos on the unsuspecting residents of Miles County as they peacefully drift off to sleep on Christmas Eve, as per it's official IMDb description.

“Although I was in and out of the screening, I did manage to witness some crazy stuff,” director Leone told Bloody Disgusting.

“One woman got up and left in the middle of the shower massacre. Another woman left the screening and said she started having a panic attack during a scene involving kids where Art impersonates a mall Santa," he added.

That's the type of stuff you want to hear as a director of a gruesome horror movie, to be honest.

Last year Leone revealed that there was some pushback on the movie due to its extremely violent scenes.

"I got to meet with studios, like legit Hollywood studios, who wanted to make Terrifier 3," he told JoBlo last year. "But before I even had a script, just based on the success of part 2, and just having meetings and getting the feel that I was going to have eyes over my shoulders, and they were concerned about the levels of gore and this and that."

He also added that he knew that this movie wasn't going to get picked up on just the first few scenes alone.

"I knew, and not having seen my script or have any idea what I had in mind, I knew they weren't going to let me make this movie based on the first five pages. Like that's how insane Terrifier 3 is," the director said. "So mark my words, I guarantee you the first five minutes of this movie is going to be very controversial. But that's not even the big kill scene.

"So like that's why I was like, I need to just make this movie on my own, because it's just too… it's too insane," he concluded.

And let's just say "insane" is probably an understatement given some audience member's reactions that were captured via a promotional video by Bloody Disgusting and Screen rant.

It comes after two other pretty successful movies, the first of which was released back in 2016, closely followed by the sequel in 2022.

Terrifier 3 is set to be released on October 11 in the United Kingdom and other countries worldwide.
