It's a fact that there's no actor out there right now who likes playing bad guys as much as Tom Hardy. Just think about all the villains (and gangsters in particular) he's portrayed over the years.

He's played Bane, Venom, Charles Bronson, Alfie Solomons, and both the Kray twins at the same time. But now it looks like he's about to play the biggest and nastiest mobster of all time. None other than Scarface himself, Al Capone.

Take a look at the trailer for the movie in the video below:

The trailer for the upcoming biopic movie has just dropped on social media, and shows Hardy wearing extensive makeup and prosthetics to portray the aging mob boss.

Per Variety, a synopsis for the movie states: "A ruthless businessman and bootlegger who ruled Chicago with an iron fist, Al 'Fonzo' Capone (Tom Hardy) was the most infamous and feared gangster of American lore."

It continues: "At the age of 47, following nearly a decade of imprisonment, dementia rots Capone’s mind and his past becomes present as harrowing memories of his violent and brutal origins melt into his waking life."

Commenting on the project on Twitter, director Josh Trank, (who directed the critically-panned Fantastic 4 reboot) wrote:           "[Failure] forced me to walk an honest path, and I’m way happier today than I ever was before."

Trank continued: "I have a film out later this year, starring Tom Hardy, called FONZO that I wrote, directed, and edited. We had so much fun making it & it’s my best work as a filmmaker. [sic]"

According to a recent report by FilmRatings.com, the movie was originally supposed to be titled: 'FONZO' but has now been changed to simply Capone. The film will initially be released as a home premiere VOD release on May 12th in the USA, with an on-demand 48-hour rental, via Vertical and Redbox, with the theatrical release possibly coming later this summer.
