Paramount has unveiled the first spine-chilling teaser for Smile 2, and you can watch it right now.

The highly anticipated sequel to the 2022 hit is set to terrify audiences once again when it arrives in theaters on October 18. Along with the teaser, Paramount has also revealed the first image and poster for the movie.

Watch the new Smile 2 trailer:

During a chat with Julia Cunningham and Jess Cagle on SiriusXM’s The Jess Cagle Show in March while promoting Road House, Gage reassured fans of the original film, saying, “if you love the first movie, you’re going to love this one.”

“It’s so terrifying,” he shared, “It was the first time I’ve ever been on a set where I was genuinely afraid, and I actually got sick to my stomach in one take.”

Gage elaborated: “I didn’t think I would. I just, it was so gory and so disgusting.” The actor confessed he had to vomit off-camera to get through the scene.

The sequel to the 2022 horror sensation is “legitimately that scary,” he emphasized. “I’m not even just lying. I’ve never been on something that truly terrified me. The crew was terrified filming because, I don’t know. Parker Finn is, he knows that genre so well.”

In December, Naomi Scott joined the cast of the Smile sequel. Parker Finn has both directed and written this follow-up, with Temple Hill producing.

Smile took the world by surprise and became a hit for Paramount, grossing $217 million worldwide in 2022. The original movie starred Sosie Bacon as Rose Cotter, a therapist plagued by her patient’s horrifying suicide.

With a grotesque grin, the patient’s death sets off a chain of unsettling events that make Rose question her sanity. When others begin to show the same eerie smile before their grim deaths, Rose’s terror amplifies as the sinister curse appears to spread. The film also featured Jessie T. Usher and Kal Penn.

The trailer was posted to Paramount Pictures’ official YouTube channel on Tuesday (June 18), with fans of the first film excitedly taking to the comments to share their thoughts on the newly released trailer.

One of the top comments was: “I was so hoping that the main character would be the policeman who was cursed at the end of the original film…”

Another speculated: “I bet there’s a scene where she’s at a concert and every single person is smiling at her.”

A third penned: “I think the first movie's strengths weren't the story but rather the camera work and especially the sound design. I remember being in the cinema and the music and sounds were amazing and embracing. I can't wait for the sequel!!”
