A singer who appeared on a number of reality television shows has tragically died following a freak accident at a manufacturing plant.

Thomas Wells is perhaps best known to the public for his appearance on shows like The Voice, The X-Factor, The Winner Is, and America's Got Talent, in which he showcased his impressive voice.

However, his wife of 17 years has now revealed to TMZ that Thomas has passed away at the age of 46.

Jessica Wells informed the outlet that Thomas died earlier this month while working his day job at a tire manufacturing plant in Oklahoma. TMZ reports that Thomas became caught in a type of "automatic conveyer belt machine", which failed to stop.

He was rushed to a nearby hospital in Idabel, and then later airlifted to another hospital in Tyler, Texas, where specialists attempted to save the singer. Sadly, Jessica revealed that Thomas died in the hospital on November 13.

Per the New York Post, an obituary for the father-of-three reads: "Thomas had an amazing voice and loved singing hymns as well as contemporary music.

"He always had a smile and loved to joke and give people a hard time. He was a great entertainer and always became the center of attention."

Over the Thanksgiving holiday, Jessica shared a heartbreaking video about the day she lost her husband. She said: "It was the worst day of my life because I lost my husband, but the best day of my life because God told me he was home."

"I know one hundred and million percent that Thomas is up there waiting for me," she added.

TMZ reports how Thomas fell in love with music from an early age, and was able to teach himself instruments by ear. Prior to his television appearances, Thomas also sang in a church choir and at school in Oklahoma.
