Despite the fact that the previous season of Game of Thrones aired in August last year - a full seven months ago - the show is still on our minds. It was always a series which dominated the conversation for months on end, to the frustration of anyone who didn't watch it, but season seven really amped things up.
While some seasons have seen the plot stalling or characters taking forever to progress in any way, those episodes saw a huge amount happen in a short space of time. By the time it got around to its final episode, the fate of Westeros and all our favourite characters were in a very dire situation indeed.
We know now that the eighth and final season won't pull its punches when it comes to offing beloved characters, with it seeming like anyone could be next to bite it. One character who many have speculated will meet his end next year is Ser Jorah Mormont, Daenerys' most devoted follower.
The actor who plays Jorah, Iain Glen, recently spoke to The Indian Express, where he explained how he and others in the cast reacted to the huge growth of the show over the years:
"I had a hunch somewhere that it might go on to do something, but… the milieu of ‘Game of Thrones’… Fantasy… has not had a great track record. I think everyone was definitely surprised about how it grew year on year.
"It has got bigger and bigger in terms of audience numbers and appreciation worldwide, from the first season to the last. That is very unusual, but it is a mark of HBO too.
"They are a perfect match for GoT material. It is really rare to find a production company who put the finances that were required to create a very diverse world, landscapes and everything the ‘Game of Thrones’ has done."
However, one particular thing that the actor said has caused many fans to wonder what could happen in the final season. In this interview, he said he had read the entire script for the final episode of the show, and hinted that it won't satisfy everyone.
When he was asked if the finale will give fans the closure they want, he said:
"Yes, I hope. I can’t tell, but I am one of the few people who has read the script and I know the ending and what happens.
“When I read it, I thought it was rather brilliant. I am a bit of a fan of the series as well, and it satiated my expectation and hopes, I felt (it was the) conclusion… But we will just have to see. You know with something this big like Game of Thrones, you cannot please everyone.
“All I can say is that we will be doing what we have done before and the writers have written great episodes. They have had a great strike rate up to now and I am sure that will continue."
It seems that Glen is pretty confident that they are going to pull it all off. It's easy to get excited about seeing how it all turns out in Westeros, but at the end of the day, like the actor said - you can't satisfy everyone.
