By now, Game of Thrones has racked up seven seasons and 67 episodes, with another six on the way next year. That means that so far we have indulged in two days, fifteen hours and thirty minutes of the series, and a fair amount of that time has been dedicated to the brutal slayings of our favourite characters.

There are plenty of fan-favourites that have made it all the way to the final season, but along the way we have lost some great characters. But once they got killed off, what did the actors behind these roles get up to?

1. Viserys Targaryen

Okay, we didn't miss this guy too much, did we? Daenerys' d***head brother, played by Harry Lloyd, was given a memorable death when Khal Drogo poured molten gold over his head.

Now, the actor is starring in a spy thriller series called Counterpart, which premiered on Starz earlier this year.

2. Robert Baratheon

Mark Addy's character also didn't make it to the end of the first season, after being gravely injured during a boar hunt.

Addy has starred in various shows since, including Atlantis, New Blood, and Oasis.

3. Renly Baratheon

Let's be honest, Renly had one of the weakest claims to the Iron Throne, but he did get one of the strangest deaths, when he was killed by Melisandre's blood magic in season two.

Since then, Gethin Anthony has played Charles Manson in the NBC drama Aquarius, and provided voice work in the latest Mass Effect and various other video games.

4. Lysa Arryn

If you struggling to remember her, Lysa is the loopy character who breastfed her son to far too old an age, then was pushed to her death by Littlefinger.

Since then, Kate Dickie has starred in the 2015 horror film The Witch, and had a small role in Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

5. Oberyn Martell

Remember Oberyn? He was pretty much everyone's favourite character on the show, which meant it wasn't long before he met his eye-popping death.

Pedro Pascal is now starring in the Netflix series Narcos, appeared in Kingsman: The Golden Circle and The Equalizer 2, and is set to have a key role in the upcomng Wonder Woman sequel.

6. Ygritte

Jon Snow's love had a tragic end, all because of an arrow shot by young Olly (seriously, screw Olly).

Since she departed Game of Thrones, she has acted in various TV shows and movies including Luther and the horror film, Honeymoon. If it helps any grieving fans out there, Jon and Ygritte did end up being together in a way, when Rose Leslie and Kit Harington got married in June this year.

7. Shireen Baratheon

Shireen got one of the most heartbreaking deaths, when she was sacrificed by her father and burned at the stake.

Kelly Ingram is now starring in a Netflix show called Free Reign.

8. Khal Drogo

Jason Momoa fell prey to an injury, and didn't fare much better when Daenerys' tried to use magic to keep him alive. Still, no one has forgotten what Jason Momoa brought to the screen, even if he was gone by the end of season one.

When he's not partying with the GoT crew or gushing about how much he loves his wife, Momoa is busy bringing Aquaman to the big screen - first as part of Justice League and later this year in his solo movie.

9. Eddard Stark

Poor ol' Ned, he just wanted to do what's right. But doing the right thing doesn't really pay off in Westeros, so he got executed in front of both his daughters for a crime he didn't commit.

More recently, Sean Bean has starred in movies The Martian and Jupiter Ascending, the TV series The Oath, and won Best Actor at the BAFTAs for the BBC series, Broken.

10. Talisa

Now we get to what is still probably the most brutal moments in the show: the red wedding. Robb Stark's wife, Talisa, was killed, and we all watched on in despair.

Since then, Oona Chaplin has been starring opposite Tom Hardy in the FX series Taboo, an episode of Black Mirror, and she's set to appear in the next four Avatar sequels (yes, they're making four in a row).

11. Robb Stark

Like his wife, Robb also fell victim to the treacherous Freys, in a prolonged and horrific death scene. Since he was killed off, Richard Madden has starred in Disney's live-action Cinderella as the Prince, and can also be seen in TV shows Electric Dreams and Medici: Masters in Florence.

12. Catelyn Stark

The third major death at the Red Wedding came with Robb's mother, Catelyn Stark, the last to be murdered during that particular massacre. Michelle Fairley is currently starring in shows Fortitude and The White Princess.

13. Joffrey Baratheon

We were all a little glad to see this one go, weren't we?

Following his departure from the show, Jack Gleeson took a break from acting, but later returning to the stage for a play called Bears in Space in 2016.

14. Hodor

Hodor got what was one of the most emotional moments in season six, leaving every viewer wide-eyed and exclaiming "no f***ing way".

Kristian Nairn has since built a pretty strong DJ career, touring around the world to bring the 'Rave of Thrones' to his fans.

15. Ramsay Bolton

Iwan Rheon's character met his bloody ending after hours of being the ultimate bastard of Westeros (in more ways than one).

Since then, he bagged a role in TV show Riviera, and Marvel series Inhumans, which aired on ABC.
