Social media users have been left bewildered after a scene from iCarly has resurfaced online.

The popular teen sitcom originally ran on Nickelodeon between 2007 and 2012, and told the story of teenager Carly Shay (played by Miranda Cosgrove), who ran her own web show called iCarly with the help of her friends Sam and Freddie (played by Jennette McCurdy and Nathan Kress respectively).

However, following the release of McCurdy's 2022 memoir I'm Glad My Mom Died, the show came under fire for comments the actor about the show and its creator, Dan Schneider.

Per Buzzfeed News, McCurdy claimed that Schneider - whom she refers to only as "The Creator" in her memoir - supplied her with alcohol in order to calm her nerves, despite being under the legal drinking age.

Jennette, now 30, would also write that she felt like she was being "sexualized" on the set of iCarly, alleging that she was once photographed in a bikini during a wardrobe fitting.

Additionally, back in 2021, the New York Times published an article uncovering allegations that Schneider had been verbally abusive prior to leaving Nickelodeon.

Now, a resurfaced clip from the show has been shared on TikTok by user @skainova, who captioned the post: "WHAT IS GOING ON".

Check it out below:

The clip shows Cosgrove's character of Carly at her high school, before asking a friend to help her get a drink from the after fountain.

After ending up with water on her top, Carly kneels down further away from the fountain, before letting the stream into her mouth.

...if that sentence reads a bit peculiar, just wait until you've watched the scene unfold.

The scene has been criticized for sexualizing Cosgrove by commenters. Although many children's TV shows and movies have adult jokes that go over the heads of young viewers, many felt that the young Cosgrove should never have made to perform the scene.

"That scene really wasn't needed [what the hell]," commented one TikTok user.

A second added: "Everytime something like this happens i say yup that's a Dan Schneider moment."

"This is not ok at all. It makes me want to go back and watch millennial kid shows," a third wrote.

"I’m watching it on Netflix rn and I had the same reaction to this scene," a fourth commented.

Some commenters also brought up previous instances of Schneider including scenes featuring bare feet in some of his shows. Per The Times, some social media users even said the scenes were evidence of Schneider having a fetish.

But speaking to the publication, Schneider said the claims were "ridiculous", before adding that kids find feet funny and the jokes were "totally innocent".
