It goes without saying that one of the most contentious debates in the world of sitcoms is the "We were on a break" debacle on Friends.
Were Ross and Rachel really on a break when he slept with "the girl from the copy place"? Or was Ross simply skirting around the fact that he cheated on his on-off girlfriend?
Well, it turns out that Jennifer Anison - aka the actress who played Rachel Green - has a pretty controversial opinion on the matter, which she shared in the new Friends reunion trailer.
Check out the trailer forĀ Friends: The ReunionIt all stems from a fateful episode of the hit show in its third season, titled 'The One Where Ross and Rachel Take a Break'.
The actual title of the episode does seem to indicate that the couple was indeed on a break - but let's delve further.
Fans of the legendary series will remember that it was actually Rachel herself who suggested the break - much to Ross' dismay.
Check out the moment Rachel suggests she and Ross take a break at the 1:39 markWhen the paleontology professor realizes that Rachel means "a break from us" as opposed to merely a break from the argument, he then storms out of the apartment.
Upset by her decision, Ross ends up sleeping with Chloe, a girl who works at a Xerox store, which he instantly regrets the next morning.
When Rachel finds out about Chloe, her immediate reaction is that, despite the break, she and Ross were still very much an item and as such, he cheated on her. Ross, however, believes the break meant he was allowed to sleep with other people.
Their disagreement over the issue initially drives them further apart - but has ultimately become a major part of the show as a whole.
Well, it turns out that Jennifer might not entirely agree with her character's stance on the matter.
In the trailer for Friends: The Reunion (see above), she is asked by the show's host James Corden whether the iconic TV couple were indeed on a break - and without hesitation, Jen responds: "Yes!"
And it appears that most of her former co-stars agree with her, with the exception of Matt LeBlanc, who calls "bulls***".
Do you agree with Jen or do you side with Matt on the issue? Let us know in the comments!
