Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill have joined the cast for the latest Netflix movie Don't Look Up.

According to a recent report by Deadline, the movie, which is helmed by The Big Short and Vice director Adam McKay, already boasts an incredibly star-studded cast.

Castmembers currently lined up to feature in the film make for an astonishingly glittering list of names including Jennifer Lawrence, Cate Blanchette, Himesh Patel, Timothée Chalamet, Ariana Grande, Kid Cudi, Matthew Perry, and Tomer Sisley.

It's likely that most of the celebrity parts will be cameos: something which McKay has already utilized as a stylistic device numerous times in his previous two features.

According to Empire, DiCaprio will be starring alongside Lawrence, with the two leads playing a pair of scientists who, after discovering that a meteor will strike the Earth in six months, try to warn the world about the impending disaster by going on a media tour.

However, despite the urgent threat of global armageddon, the two astronomers find it almost impossible to convince the general public to take the matter seriously and are forced to manipulate the media to their own ends to deal with the crisis.

Per Insider, McKay has confirmed that the movie will be a satirical comedy, stating that he found working on the Dick Cheney biopic Vice to be a "bleak" experience. Commenting on the movie's tone, McKay stated:

"I don't think it's a 'Step Brothers'-type of comedy. I would compare it more to somewhere between the Mike Judge stuff and Wag the Dog. A hard funny satire is what we're going for. I think, God almighty, do we need laughter right now."

McKay continued:

"It's the only way I'm getting through this. You just have to laugh at the cravenness of not just Trump but the Republican party. And I'm also going to say the ineptness of the Democrats and the weakness of them."

Personally, I can't wait to see this movie when it finally is released. I have a feeling it's going to be hilarious.
