According to a death certificate obtained by TMZ, Anderson, 79, died from metastatic uterine leiomyosarcoma, a rare form of cancer that begins in the uterus and often spreads to other organs such as the lungs and liver.

Uterine leiomyosarcoma is known to cause life-threatening complications. There were no additional contributing factors listed, and the certificate also revealed that Anderson’s remains were cremated and buried in Hollywood on August 7.

Anderson’s longtime publicist, Cheryl J. Kagan, had previously confirmed her death at a Los Angeles hospital after a "prolonged" illness. “We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our dear wife, mother, and grandmother,” Anderson’s family said in a statement via Rolling Stone.

Best known for her work on WKRP in Cincinnati, which aired from 1978 to 1982, Anderson earned three Golden Globe nominations and two Emmy nominations for her work on the show.

On it, she played Jennifer Marlowe, the glamorous, witty receptionist. Her character was the epitome of beauty, charm, and wit. She was a woman who worked in an often male-dominated environment, which made her a unique and empowering character for television audiences at the time.

Following her success on WKRP, Anderson starred in the 1983 comedy Stroker Ace, where she met and fell in love with her co-star, Burt Reynolds. The two were married in 1988 and later adopted a son, Quinton, before divorcing in 1994.

In addition to her work in television and film, Anderson made guest appearances on numerous shows, including Nurses, Sabrina, the Teenage Witch, and V.I.P. She also played Tori Spelling's mother in So noTORIous in 2006.

Anderson married musician Bob Flick in 2008 and is survived by him, along with her daughter Deirdra, from her first marriage to Bruce Hasselberg.

Her passing is mourned by fans and loved ones alike, remembering her talent and the beloved character she portrayed.
