Love Actually fans have spotted a heartbreaking detail they'd previously missed while watching the Christmas classic.
The 2003 Richard Curtis movie has been a fan favorite for the holiday season over the past two decades, due to its emotional plot.
Christmas isn't Christmas without at least one re-watch of it, but diehard fans are still discovering things they haven't noticed before.
The movie charts the interconnecting love stories of a host of characters, but one of the most heartbreaking moments comes when Karen, played by Emma Thompson, discovers her husband Harry, played by Alan Rickman, is having an affair.
Karen had been suspicious that Harry was having an affair with a co-worker, Mia, who is his secretary.
Harry is almost caught buying an expensive gold heart necklace for Mia in a department store, and Karen eventually finds the lavish gift in his coat pocket, and assumes it is for her.
However, she is shattered when she opens a similarly-shaped box on Christmas Day, only to find it contains a Joni Mitchell CD rather than the expensive piece of jewelry she'd discovered in his pocket.
After the devastating discovery confirms her worst fears that Harry has another woman, Karen cries on her own in their bedroom before putting on a brave face so as not to ruin the occasion for their children.
She later confronts Harry for making a mockery of her and their marriage, after which he comes clean and admits he has behaved foolishly.
While that scene is one fans of the film know well, people have just noticed something even more heartbreaking about Karen's outfit for the occasion.
TikToker Kathie, who goes by @the_koo_koo_nest_ pointed out a small detail that others hadn't spotted in all these years - that Karen had seemingly picked out earrings that matched the necklace she'd thought she was receiving.
The character is also wearing a red cardigan and lipstick to further complement the piece of jewelry that has actually been gifted to Mia instead.
She captioned the post: "The way she matched her earrings to the necklace. The way she holds it together for the kids. The way she pats down the bed. I stand with Emma Thompson."
Others took to the comments to share their thoughts, writing: "But how have I never noticed the earrings."
