Fans of Greek Island-based, Swedish-centric escapades will be delighted to learn that everyone’s favorite Euro-Pop musical duology will most likely be getting a third installment. Mamma Mia! Here we go again! Again!

According to a report from The Daily Mail, series’ creator and brains behind the wildly popular cinematic phenomenon, Judy Craymer, has confirmed that she has been giving some serious thought to a third film during the lockdown, exciting fans in much need of a joyous pick-me-up.

Speaking to The Daily Mail, Craymer declared:

“I was meant to have been getting on with that, in my head, during these months. But then I got hit with Covid fog. I think one day there will be another film, because there’s meant to be a trilogy, you see. I know Universal would like me to do it.”

Craymer, who was also responsible for the original musical adaptation, went on to speculate about the possibility of a staged version of the cinematic sequel “Here We Go Again”. As she conceded, “It’s a thought.”

Although critical reception of both ‘Mamma Mia!’ films has been lukewarm, audiences have flocked to see their favorite songs on the big screen. The original went on to gross over $615 million, while the sequel grossed around $375 million.

As if the prospect of a conclusion to the all-singing, all-dancing saga wasn’t exciting enough, Craymer also teased that any follow-up would in all likelihood include four new ABBA songs written by Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus for a planned virtual ABBA reunion concert.

Even if you aren’t the biggest fan of the movies, the prospect of seeing new material from one of the biggest bands of all time on the big screen may be enough to lure you in.
