Margot Robbie has revealed what fans can expect from her love scenes with Jacob Elordi in Wuthering Heights - including one which left her "weak at the knees".
The Australian actress, 35, will star as Cathy in Emerald Fennell's upcoming movie adaptation of Emily Brontë's Wuthering Heights opposite Jacob Elordi, 28, as Heathcliff, and fans are already anticipating some steamy interactions.
The Gothic erotic psychological drama film is inspired by Emily Brontë's 1847 novel of the same name, and is set to be released in February.
The movie was shot when Margot was three months postpartum after welcoming a son in October 2024 with husband Tom Ackerley, and the star opened up on how that affected her as well as what fans can expect.
She told British Vogue that she had been apprehensive about diving back into the project so soon after giving birth, explaining: "I was three months postpartum when we started shooting. So I was in a very different headspace. I didn't do my usual routine. It was more haphazard.
"And I remember saying to Emerald, 'What if I'm not prepared enough?' She kept saying, 'I don't want you to prepare. I just need you to be in the moment.'
"Which was a lovely way of relieving my anxiety. It was about being in my body as opposed to my head."
Jacob also spoke highly of Margot, adding: "Margot is a force. And she makes it look easy. Sometimes I think she has Hermione's time-turner – she can raise a baby, shoot a movie, produce four others and still meet for a beer at 5PM."
And given Jacob's jawdropping turn in Saltburn, many fans are expecting to see some seriously steamy action between the pair on-screen.
However, Margot revealed that the tender moments are what left her "weak at the knees" during shooting.
She explained to the outlet: "Everyone's expecting this to be very, very raunchy. I think people will be surprised.
"Not to say there aren't sexual elements and that it's not provocative – it definitely is provocative – but it's more romantic than provocative. This is a big epic romance."
She revealed that it's a long-awaited romantic epic, explaining: "It's just been so long since we've had one – maybe The Notebook, also The English Patient. You have to go back decades.
"It's that feeling when your chest swells or it's like someone's punched you in the guts and the air leaves your body. That's a signature of Emerald's. Whether it's titillating or repulsion, her superpower is eliciting a physical response."
Margot also shared the moments that had a physiological impact on her, particularly one where Jacob as Heathcliff picks Cathy up "with only one arm" and another in which he shields her face from the rain.
She admitted: "It almost made me weak at the knees. It was the little things that we loved as two women in our 30s, and this movie is primarily for people in our demographic. These epic romances and period pieces aren't often made by women."
When Jacob and Margot were announced as the star-crossed loves in the novel adaptation, some lovers of the book were not happy with the casting, given that Cathy was a teenager in the book and Heathcliff was "dark-skinned".
While Margot did not address the backlash directly, she said the director chose to "lean into the stylized depravity" that's become her signatire since 2023's Saltburn.
The 2026 adaptation of Wuthering Heights apparently received a mixed reaction at its first test screening in Dallas, Texas, earlier this month, with the outlet reporting that it allegedly features "intimate, clinical and purposefully discomforting" masturbation scenes and a BDSM-inspired sex scene involving horse reins.
The early viewers did note that Margot and Jacob had "great chemistry" and delivered "committed performances".
