The series, centered on a brutal gang war between the Harrigans and the Stevensons in modern-day London, saw Harry Da Souza (Tom Hardy), the Harrigans’ no-nonsense fixer, make enemies, betray allies, and put his life — and family — on the line to secure victory for his side.
But in the end, it wasn’t a rival gang member that nearly took him out. It was his own wife.
Over the course of MobLand Season 1, Harry did everything from cutting shady deals with enemies to committing cold-blooded murder — all to protect Seraphina Harrigan (Mandeep Dhillon) and win the war.
But those moves had personal costs. His wife Jan (Joanne Froggatt) and daughter Gina (Teddie Allen) became collateral damage in the life he led, with their once-stable home life unraveling into chaos.
After Harry and Kevin Harrigan (Paddy Considine) finally outmaneuvered Richie Stevenson (Geoff Bell) and ended him — effectively ending the mob war — the finale brought things back to Harry’s doorstep for one final gut punch.
In an emotional final scene, Jan confronted Harry about the wreckage their lives had become.
“Richie’s death changed everything,” Harry insisted, suggesting it was finally time for things to go back to normal. But Jan was done. She was finished trying to rationalize the madness.
Then, in a shocking twist, her anger boiled over — and she accidentally stabbed Harry in the chest with a kitchen knife.
Still, this wasn’t the end for Harry. Bloodied but calm, he reassured Jan, saying he was going to be fine. He walked into another room and sat down like nothing had happened, knife still lodged in his chest.

Despite the cliffhanger ending, viewers shouldn’t panic just yet. The final shot of Harry’s nonchalant exit suggests the wound wasn’t fatal — and the creative team has since confirmed exactly that.
MobLand executive producer Jez Butterworth cleared things up in an interview with The NY Post, saying: “I mean, if you think about it, ’is Harry dead?’ No. We’re not gonna – We love Harry. We love Tom.”
So yes — Tom Hardy’s not going anywhere. Which is a good thing, considering Harry’s storyline is far from over.
In an April 2025 interview with Collider, Hardy revealed the show’s ambitions go well beyond London’s shadowy corners.
“The plan is definitely to see more seasons,” he said. “The question is: Does it become international? There are international elements to organized crime, which are touched on in season one.
“The control of drugs, ammunition, weapons, people, and all kinds of things that go through Europe and from Africa through to South America, Pakistan… and the various commodities that move around Europe.
"There are families that are involved in each European country that are vying for power to have that status to be able to move these kinds of commodities through. And who polices that and how that fits into a world stage.”

With Hardy also serving as an executive producer, his future in MobLand seems locked in.
Although Paramount+ hasn’t officially greenlit Season 2 yet, the Season 1 finale aired just recently, and the network is likely gauging fan reactions and viewership before making a call. But one thing’s clear: if the series returns, Harry’s got unfinished business.
The final episode teased a looming face-off between Harry and Janet McTeer’s Kat McCallister, who tried to recruit him — and got rejected.
She’s expected to become one of Season 2’s major villains, likely forcing Harry to once again dance the line between loyalty, survival, and personal redemption.
