Netflix viewers have pointed out a "strange" detail in the chilling documentary about Amy Bradley.

In July, the streaming service released a documentary titled Amy Bradley Is Missing, which is about the 23-year-old's mysterious disappearance during a Royal Caribbean cruise in 1998.

Bradley was traveling with her family on the cruise ship Rhapsody of the Seas when she vanished without a trace.

She had spent the evening dancing at the ship's nightclub before deciding to sleep on the cabin’s balcony due to seasickness. However, when her father checked on her the next morning, she was gone.

Her brother Brad told WWBT’s 12 On Your Side: “She said, ‘I’m going to stay out here on the chaise lounge and a lot of fresh air and wind. I don’t want to go in a closed room right now.’ So, I told her I loved her.”

He also revealed his sister must have returned to the room at some point because “a shirt she was wearing was laid across one of the chairs".

Despite extensive searches on the ship, no sign of Bradley was found. The ship docked in Curaçao, allowing 2,400 passengers to disembark and explore the island, which left open the possibility that she could have vanished into the crowd.

To this day, the truth about what happened to her remains a mystery. Theories surrounding her disappearance range from the possibility that she accidentally fell overboard after drinking too much to the more sinister claim that she may have been trafficked off the ship.

The Netflix documentary has brought new attention to the case, with many viewers questioning certain aspects of the investigation, particularly the family's actions following Bradley's disappearance.

Many have been left baffled by why the 23-year-old's family chose to continue leading the search from the US instead of relocating to the Caribbean, where several of the alleged sightings occurred.

According to The Mirror, one viewer commented: "It was bizarre to me that the parents had their war room in the US even after multiple sightings around the Caribbean that they felt were credible. What? Why did they not temporarily move to the island she was seen on and spend the next few years investigating it first hand themselves?"

Another viewer wrote, "As a dad I’m not sitting in my a** in the US if I really think my daughter is on an island getting held hostage."

Others on social media have been equally critical of Netflix’s handling of the case, with a viewer suggesting: "Netflix couldn’t spring for a PI in Barbados? Such a lazy move. Best way to provide an ending for a doc is to at least try to find closure. Hope the family gets answers Netflix was too lazy to provide."

These criticisms have not gone unnoticed by the young woman's family, as her brother himself took to X (formerly Twitter) to voice his frustration with the documentary's omissions.

Posting on X (formerly Twitter), Brad wrote: “Yes, we support it, but it was not a complete account and left out quite a bit of information. It would have required 10 seasons to tell it all, but we thought the producers did an awesome job overall and are happy with the response so far.”

In a follow-up, he penned: “For 27 years, my family has searched for Amy. We will not stop. The Netflix docuseries Amy Bradley is Missing is shining a light on her story, and we need your help to follow leads and find answers."

He also shared a GoFundMe link to support the continued search for his sister, which includes funding for travel, expert consultations, and legal support.
