You can keep your Star Wars and Frozen II trailers, because I'm only here for one movie this fall, and that is DC Comics adaptation, Joker.

Directed by Todd Phillips (War Dogs, 2016), the movie will explain how an unhinged Gotham civilian comes to transform into Batman's demented and tortured archnemeses, Joker.

The new, darker trailer delves even deeper to how Joaquin Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck is belittled, victimized, and mocked to the point of his character donning the haunting clown facepaint and dying his hair the signature green.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that Joaquin Phoenix will be the greatest on-screen Joker EVER (don't @ me).

Just check out the new darker trailer for the movie and tell me this isn't going to be amazing:

Phoenix's laugh literally sends chills down my spine.

The trailer shows how Arthur Fleck is ignored and unaccepted to the point where chance encounters with Robert De Niro's a mysterious TV host persona and Brett Cullen’s Thomas Wayne (father to Batman) lead him to becoming a cult leader for a villainous uprising.

Thanks to Phoenix's outstanding dedication and Phillips' evident inspiration from cinema classics such as Taxi Driver, this origin story really is one of this year's unmissable movies.

Starring Joaquin Phoenix, Robert De Niro, Frances Conroy, Brett Cullen,  Zazie Beetz, and Marc Maron, the much-anticipated Joker will hit movie theaters on October 4.
