Following the release of the new trailer for The Batman, people have taken to social media to say that they believe Robert Pattinson is the best version of the Caped Crusader ever to hit our screens.
On Saturday, DC finally dropped the full trailer for the upcoming 2022 movie, The Batman.
Directed by Matt Reeves, the movie also stars Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Paul Dano as Edward Nashton/Riddler, Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot/Penguin, and Andy Serkis as Bruce Wayne's trusty butler, Alfred Pennyworth.
But as anticipation grows for the release of the movie, anybody who watches the trailer is undoubtedly going to be focused on former Twilight star Robert Pattinson and his portrayal of The Dark Knight.
Check out the incredible trailer for The Batman below:The trailer shows Gotham at its dark and gritty best, and perfectly shows off Pattinson's bullet-proof Bat-suit with a few incredible scenes. But perhaps the most iconic scene in the entire trailer comes at the very end.
With Farrell's Penguin believing he's successfully disposed of The Batman, he is suddenly silenced when the Batmobile appears from the flames and overturns Oz's car. Then, the next epic shot shows Batman slowly walking toward the disfigured villain - silhouetted by the flames with his cape bellowing.
It's pretty darn awesome.
In fact, people are already taking to Twitter to stake their claim that 35-year-old Robert Pattinson is already "the best" Batman we've ever seen.
One Twitter user boldly typed: "It's crazy how Robert Pattinson is already the best live action Batman/Bruce Wayne."
A second concurred, adding: "In just 2 trailers Robert Pattinson is low-key the best Batman we’ve ever seen."
"One of the hardest shots I have ever seen in a Batman film, Rob really about to be the best [and] most badass Batman," a third Twitter user typed.
Entertainment journalist Matt Ramos even stated that despite loving Michael Keaton, Christian Bale, and Ben Affleck in the role, he believes Pattinson will be "the best" Batman.
Of course, until we all see the movie - which is set to be released on March 4 next year - nobody will really know if Pattinson can be compared to the likes of Christian Bale, Ben Affleck, Val Kilmer, Michael Keaton, and George Clooney.
However, considering the backlash Pattinson received when he was first announced as the new Defender of Gotham, it's hardly surprising that people are rallying to support him so vehemently.
In fact, two years ago, some people even went as far as to create online petitions calling for Warner Bros. not to cast Pattinson in the lead role.
This petition, for example, received over 6,900 signatures and reads: "Don't do it. For the love of all that is holy, stop trashing the DC Universe."
Judging from the new trailer, I think it's safe to say that people were a little too quick to judge Pattinson when he was first cast in the role, with many probably holding a grudge from his Twilight days.
But at the same time, it may be a little too early to be hailing him as "the best Batman ever".
