The first teaser trailer for the upcoming reboot of the beloved 90s teen sitcom Saved by the Bell has been released 30 years after the original premiered.

Returning stars from the original series, which began in 1989, include Mario Lopez and Elizabeth Berkley who played AC Slater and Jessie Spano respectively. This new series also takes place in California's Bayside High.

And of course, the reboot would be nothing without Saved by the Bell's main character, Zack Morris played by Mark-Paul Gosselaar.

While he does not make an appearance in the teaser trailer, the actor's role is an important one. Not only did he originally play the handsome troublemaker who ends up marrying his childhood sweetheart Kelly Kapowski (Tiffany Thiessen) - in the reboot, he's now the Governor of California!

Take a look at the trailer for the upcoming reboot of Saved by the Bell:

After closing too many schools for kids from low-income families, Zack is forced to combine two high schools leading to conflicts between the rich and poor kids.

“Remember how fun high school used to be?” AC Slater, who is working as a gym teacher at Bayside High, says in the trailer.

“Can you believe that was like 30 years ago?” Jessie Spano replies.

Lesser-known cast members in the revival include Josie Totah, Dexter Darden and Mitchell Hoog, who plays Zack’s jock son Mac.

Earlier this year, Lark Voorhies, who played the fashion-loving Lisa Turtle in the original series, said she felt “slighted and hurt” not be included in the reboot.

“I have to admit I did feel a bit slighted and hurt when I was not invited to be a part of the Saved By the Bell reunion, as well as other cast members’ events,” she said during an appearance on talk show Dr. Oz, per Vanity Fair.

Production on the show has been halted due to the coronavirus pandemic, however, it is believed fans will be able to start watching the revival on NBC's new streaming service Peacock later this year.
